The last of us sequel?

  • Naughty dog is ok with another sequel but their already done with ellie and joel because they told the story they wanted to. They also said they are ok without doing another one but, they will if we want it. I dont know about you guys but for one, i wasnt happy or sad about the ending just not satisfied. The dlc is coming out in a few months two for multiplayer and one for single-player. Now maybe just maybe we will get a real ending not saying the original was not one but in my opinion "hear me out" it was a cliffhanger. Anyways back on topic with the sequel, do you think their is room for a sequel not for a bunch of random characters, but the original joel and ellie. Im even happy with a prequel of just joel and tommy surviving and getting to know them better as family. What do you guys think about a prequel or sequel of joel, ellie, or even tommy aka joels younger brother. Or would you like to see a story about someone else. But their are few that are ok with a one time story what do you guys think?

      Loading editor
    • I don't think the ending was a cliffhanger. It was dramatizing and they both went back to Tommy's. Not much more to tell. Although, I'd like to see a sequel, but not instantly. I would like to see one in like five years to know that they took time on it, made it a great story, and what not.

        Loading editor
    • I read about that. Naughty Dog insisted that they "weren't done with the world of The Last of Us". Possibly, could be another game, but without Joel and Ellie. But a prequel sounds nice. After all, we only see him twice in the game. Who knows, whatever Naughty Makes is usually gold!

        Loading editor
    • At the end of the game i was left with a few questions:

      What happened to Bill?

What happened to Tommy and Marie?

      What happened to Ellie's parents?

What happens after the ending? do they find a cure? do all the infected die out?

        Loading editor
    • Bill is possibly still alive. He has many supplies, traps and a whole town to himself, so we presume he is alive.

Tommy and Maria continue to live in the hydroelectric plant, mainataning their own settlement.

Ellie's mom is dead. Her mom passed Ellie onto Marlene, who raised her as her own. Ellie's parents do not appear in The Last of Us, so nothing is really known.

After the ending, Ellie and Joel go to live in Tommy's settlement. They did not find a cure due to Joel saving Ellie, and the Infected do not die out. There are still millions of infected roaming.

        Loading editor
    • I would love to see a sequel because ellies my favorite character in the last of us and in gaming period but then again if they do make a sequel what else is their to tell about joel and ellie /:

        Loading editor
    • I would only be down for a sequel if 1) it makes an Uncharted 2-level leap and improves every aspect of the gameplay and pacing of this game (which is already well-integrated and compelling in its own right) as they did with Drake's Fortune or 2) they decide to do something new but promising with the universe, something that will live up to the original, maintain an equally well-told narrative but also introduce a new cast of characters on the long run.

Either way, I'd prefer it if they just leave it be for now. It's great as it is already, and that's so because of the characterization and thematic gameplay elements that they've implemented into its DNA, not the infected or the post-apocalyptic setting; if they're up for the development of a new, next-gen game (which 80% of the entire inner gaming circle will expect to be impeccable btw), I'd rather see them try to explore something new and craft a new IP.

But then again, you never know; we night be confronting clickers and desperate humans again by the next 4 years or so -- until then, it'll be an incredible speculation fest to consider what the team will be constructing while we wait.

All the questions NinjaFatGuy answered are plausable. And I just want to point out the last question. Remember, The Last of Us isn't about the Infected. It's about Joel and Ellie and the journey they go through. Their highs and lows, and the Father-Daughter relationship that forms throughout their adventure. That's the fruit to the forbidden tree. He grows to love her as his own, and decides to take her away from the Fireflies. So no cure.

    • I would rather leave it be but if they did I want them to take as long as they need to make it. I would be fine with waiting 5 or more years for it, I would just want a good story. Knowing Naughty Dog though, I can see the Last of Us becoming a a trilogy and a masterpiece of a trilogy, better than Jak and Uncharted.

Bill is probably scavenging for another magazine (the printed kind, not the bullet holder)

Tommy and Marie are still at their quarantine zone.

If you find Marlene's recorder at the hospital, you would know what happened to Ellie's mother

That's a question we all want answer to

    • I think a prequel would be cool.  I don't know about you, but I loved that sequence in the beginning where everything was complete chaos—I'd like a sequel where we play in that initial chaos, where the world is just starting to crumble and no one has any idea what to do.  We could still have the same gameplay mechanics and stuff, but having it in the beginning of the outbreak would allow for a much faster pace.  I think the ending of the game was supposed to incite a lot of controversy.  I mean, Joel could have left Ellie to die, and mankind could have been saved—that would have been your usual sappy plot.  Or the Fireflies could have tried to keep Ellie alive while still finding a cure, but neither of those things happened, even though they definitely could have.  I'm sure Naughty Dog thought a lot about the ending, just like they did with the rest of the game.  It doesn't feel like a cliffhanger to me at all.  To me, it was about as graceful as an ending as they could have had.  Sure, we could have gone into camp and fast forwarded twenty years or whatever to see Ellie and Joel in the future, but what fun would that have been?  If Naughty Dog told us what happens, that'd leave no creative room for us to decide what heppens.  During the whole game they told us a story—I liked the ending because it gives us room to create our own story.

    • Depends which mode you play it on and if you explore or not because i played it on normal and explored it took me about 14 hours to beat it

        Loading editor
    •

I took 16 hours due to the fact that i tend to explore alot and alot of interuptions

        Loading editor
    • So of they did make a sequel or prequel how long would you want the story to be on average hours?

        Loading editor
    • Probably a bit longer instead of the average game time being 16 hours maybe 18 - 20 hours, just do to the fact that its a great game

        Loading editor
    • I would settle for about 29-33 hours, I like long games...

And bring back Joel and Ellie, at the very least as NPC's

        Loading editor
    • Maybe towns that you can buy a home or settle in? probably store some stuff? Maybe even a shop interface that can be used incase you get ammo and guns that you dont like, or incase you need ammo, but when i suggested 18-20 hours i was giving something reasonable, personally if i could have it 100-1000 hours i would, since its such a great game

    • That is a great idea,

Like you can make it a MMO and team up into clans or something, and you can take over towns or buildings...

I think its a great idea...

    • Well i wasnt saying MMO i was saying sometihng such as a shop incase you dont want some weapons or need some weapons, and sorta like in multiplayer where you need to find parts that could be used as the currency, even though ration cards are currency, maybe those could be used, maybe Joel and Ellie could take over towns or buildings (even though they kinda did both) and I also like the idea of 250 hours of gameplay :P

Uncharted 3 was worse than Uncharted 2.

So they made one sequel that wasn't as good as its predecessor. Uncharted 3 was still a fantastic game in its own right, but sadly, it seems like nowadays people just underrate it due to the fact that Uncharted 2 was better (keeping in mind that it was only really superior in two areas, IMO: the gun mechanics and the story).

On topic though, I feel like I'm one of the only ones who doesn't want a sequel. The Last of Us feels complete to me. There's not enough more that ND can really do with Joel and Ellie to warrant creating an entire new game. Singleplayer DLC? Maybe, if the storytelling is as compelling as the main singleplayer, although I would prefer to see short stories about the secondary characters, particularly Henry and Sam's journey prior to meeting Joel and Ellie, and Marlene's journey from Boston to Salt Lake City.

The Last of Us works as a stand-alone game, IMO, and I feel like having a sequel just would not be right. With Uncharted, you really felt like they could continue making sequels that would all be amazing (and lo and behold, they did, and they were). I don't feel that way with The Last of Us.

        Loading editor
    • I think that ND has all the capabilities of making an amazing sequel to The Last of Us, the story has a twenty year gap between the start of the infection and the events of The Last of Us. There are a LOT of different stories that ND could create be it a prequel or sequel. I feel that Joel and Ellie's story is complete and I don't see why they would dedicate an ENTIRE game for a story that's already complete, it would feel like they would be milking it too hard. I would rather have a different set of characters in the next game. That's just my opinion anyway.

    • If they were to make a sequel, bring back Nolan North to voice another side character. Also if there is one voice actor who I personally would love to see be casted in the sequel, it would have to be Greg Cipes.

    • i think they should do the next one with ellie as the main character, late teens, early 20s

        Loading editor
    • Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back, Jak 2: Renegade and Uncharted 2: Among Thieves showed how good of a sequel Naughty Dog can make. I won't be surprised if they make a sequel to TLoU and tops it! But in saying that, I feel there is no need for a sequel.

        Loading editor
    • They are actually not done yet with Joel and Ellie. They meant was that they are done with "Find the Cure Scenario". The next one could be looking for Tommy or something, as the quarantine zone of Tommy is not well fortified. There is the firefly wanting revenge with the death of Marlene.

    • Would Love to see a sequel to this game, like many others have said, not sure what is left to be said about Joel and Ellie, but the whole idea of this game was these two characters. Joel and Ellie's concepts were designed before the game itself, the game was made for them. Instead of finding the right character for the game, ND found the right game for the characters. With this being said I don't think that a sequel would work without these two characters. If they made another "The Last of Us" with different people then it would just feel like they are riding on the slipstream of the original. I think they should do one of two things:

      1) A sequel with Joel and Ellie

      -or-

      2) Leave it how it is.

I would prefer a sequel but not without Joel and Ellie

Opens the comic at the last page and points to a women who begs for mercy not to kill her, and at the bottom right: 'To be continued.' That picture looks a lot like the scene when Joel kills Marlene, doesn't it? /watch?v=xvrshvl7gfc this video explains, (youtube).

    • Ok, TLoU was a really great game, kinda shorter than Uncharted 2, but was more emotional and made you fall in love with the characters. I about teared up when I found out Tess was infected, and I was completely shocked when I found out Sam was infected (I thought I had saved him first, fuck Henry, he leaves you, but then kinda saves you, I don't know, mixed emotions for him.) A sequel would be a great idea and is very likely since Sony went ahead and got the domains thelastofus2 and thelastofus3. Oh and I loved playing Ellie, kicks David's ass!  Anyways, a sequel in my general opinion would to follow the story of a couple during the outbreak and their seperation for 10-25 years. One a firefly and the other a hunter......(enter your thoughts). Then they meet each other early in the game finally during a firefight between the two groups......(enter your thoughts). Blah Blah Blah...another sequel would be really great if it followed the story of Ellie and the death of Joel.

    • Joel and Ellie, are the best character combination I have ever seen.  If they create a new game with new character, it will never be as good as the first.  I know I would not even buy it, because it would ruin my memory of Joel and Ellie.  They really made you care so much for them, that I cannot imagine forgetting about them and moving on to try to care about different characters.  I wish they made a movie about this, just for the relationship between Joel and Ellie.  So please, if you're going to make a sequel to this game, make the main characters Joel and Ellie.  You could seriously make a game about their everyday lives and I would be thrilled.

    • I think it would be cool if they made a prequel that took place 10 years earlier, or if they made a sequel that took place 10 years later. I hope, though, that eventually The Last of Us will find its way to the XBox and/or PC and Mac.

    • I think that a prequel that sort of takes a military stance on all this. Like how the army tried to cope with the infection but failed, taking place soon after the intro to The Last of Us. I too hope it makes its way to other platforms, by the way.

    • Hmmmmm... What if (((this is a spectulation don't get mad if you don't like))) the sequel to the game is Ellie a few years after the ending of the first game. The infection starts to turn for the worst against humanity and her new life after the first game is ripped in front of her (((possibly having deaths of loved characters from the first game that survived if you know what I mean))). Because she is "infected" she survives the onslaught of infected and the settlement she hoped to spend the rest of her life is decimated. She now has to "survive" against all elements, alone and allied, in a story of her own journey of Danger and Loss. But!!! During her journey it turns out she wasn't totaly "immune" and Ellie evolves physically to her surroundings! This may result in ablities that would make things more, interesting. For example, the Sound Wall Hack is removed completely and is replaced with a later ability that will cause her to temperally go blind, but see/hear the "scents","sounds", or "viberations" of potential enemies in the immediate area very clearly (((like Clickers do))). Her Blood could become cold and be immune to thermals, other infected or animals. Her fingernails on her right arm (were she was bit) could grow out sharp and be a replacement to the knife(((leading to some grewsome, but awesome, executions))). Being able to leep extreme distances, see at night, hardening her strength for more melee damage and executions with the nails, and even being able to turn other humans into infected, by biting them, to fight for her (((and potentially "feed on" in order to gain a temperary health regen/boost))). As this happens the military, stranded, ETC. all see her as a major threat to human civilization and send enemies to kill her as she physically evolves into an alive, powerful, infected "zombiehuman" so it all makes for a very potential, superior, and heartbreaking story of a little girl's journey.

    • I think a sequel for this game is well-deserved. The ending in TLoS was great, IMO, but really hinted that there was more to come. Personally, I think Joel's character is done. But I think there's a lot more that Ellie has to offer. The part of the game where you play as her was my favorite part. She's just such a great character and I think if they do another installment, it should revolve around her and her continue to find a cure for herself, or maybe somebody else.

The zombie apocalypse genre is booming right now, so I think it would be best that they capitalize on that and get another game out sooner than later before people grow tired of it and move on.

    • First of all I thought this game was incredible, I was a big fan of the uncharted series but the character development and the emotional journey you are taken through in the last of us is on another level even for naughty dog. The ending may not have been action packed but it was very powerful in it's simplicity and worked perfectly if you paid attention to the story throughout. I would love a sequel to this game but I wouldn't want to be a direct sequel. It would be better to either feature ellie as a lone adult maybe 10 - 20 years later and explain how she got there simultaneously to her current story or if it was set many years in the future when neither of them are around but are somehow referenced in the game.

A side note for people saying the game was too short, my first run though on hard took about 16 hours and i have played it another twice since, for the style of gamep it is of average length and cant really be compared to other games like oblivion (racked up over 500 hours on that bad boy), it is difficult to keep a story driven game interesting for that long and they have got a good handle on that delicate balance.

    • In my opinion Ellie is an amazing character and I would love to see a sequel in which you play as Ellie.(like when Joel got injured) However, Naughty Dog has obviously spent a lot of time and effort perfecting her so unlike many others I think anything more than 3-4 years after the events of The Last of Us is too far in the future. Even though this may sound morbid, Tommy's settlement being attacked/overrun would be a great plot element for a sequel. This would cause fear and desperation among the characters(including Ellie of course)and could even be an ideal event in which certain characters could be killed, further damaging Ellie's moral. Maybe they could even come to Canada! Who knows? They did cross the U.S. and Jackson County(Wyoming) is not that far from the border. Anyway, I think Naughty Dog will be able to create an excellent sequel\prequel with any set of settings and characters.

    • That would be to much like the first half hour of AC: Brotherhood. Give us a new story with new characters, new types of infected, survivors more far gone than David, set it in another part of the world, explore the origins of the infected. No matter what they do they need to definitely explore more of the TLOU world they put work in to a new concept they can't just drop it. Just no direct sequel maybe a brief appearance of Joel and Ellie but don't make just about them.

    • For another game, they could:

      1. Explain what happened to Joel and Tommy in the 20 years in between the outbreak and the events of the game.

      2. Explain what happened after Tommy left Joel.

      3. Introduce new character(s), possibly a hunter that was so shameful of what he's doing so he leaves the group and looks for a new home.

It would be a good idea for them to show Sam and Henry's adventure, but how much could happen in between Hartford and Pittsburgh?

    • They trademarked the name thelastofus2 and 3 because its copyright, they don't want a game to go down as the worst if its a sequel if it wasn't made by them. All games do that too, EA trademarked dead space all the way to 10. God of War was trademarked up to 5, even though there hasn't been a four yet. They trademark to avoid losing money, no trademark, someone else can claim copyright.

Hmmmmm...

I get where your going at, and thats a great idea. She doesn't know why or how, but her immunity affects her in a way that she evolves, although wouldn't that make it too much like Prototype? Because the whole concept of the game was to fear the infected, but how can you when you have superpowers?

All of the sad, and sometimes depressing stories of family members waiting for their loved ones, and the mother who joined the fireflies and began to fight to survive after losing her son, and the Dad who left a note for his daughter telling her where he was going.... Possibly some great single player DLC?

    • I very very VERY strongly want the dlc to tie up ends with Ellie and Joel. I just finished the game and was also dissatisfied with the ending. I want an epilouge and closure. Did Tommy's camp get attacked by the infected or did Ellie and Joel live the rest of their lives there? Did Ellie ever go back to being spunky and fun, or did she stay more quiet like she was towards the end of the game? Did Joel tell anyone what really happened at the Firefly camp? How was life for them at the camp? Did Ellie meet people her age? Did Joel and Tommy become close again? Or what happened to Bill? Did he stay long in that town of his? Did he meet anyone? I really NEED to know these things. However, I don't know if I want an entire sequel based on Joel and Ellie. I mean, it would be nice, but I don't want Naughty Dog to string out their adventures in an obnoxious way. If the story flows nicely and some cliche unfortunate things don't happen just to make the game exciting, I'd be totally stoked for a sequel. But if it's not about Ellie and Joel, then it'd take one hell of a game and story to pull me back in. I feel like I want closure, but just not them stringing it out because they feel like they have to. If they do create a sequel, I hope it's not just because we ask for it. I hope they actually put a lot of time and effort into it because their passionate about the story, not because they're obligated to. I don't know how I feel about a sequel, and I'm not sure if I'd like to meet anyone other than Ellie and Joel. They've really grown on me, you know? As I write this, I think I want a sequel, just to see what the creaters come up with. If they're talented enough to make me question my entire existense after a video game, then I'm sure they're capable of making a kick-ass sequel. I would like to know what ended up happening to Ellie and Joel though.

    • "Anything Could Happen". What?... I only said it because the singer of that song is also called "Ellie".

    • Well IMHO, I don't think a "prequel" is a good idea. First of all, the beauty of this game lies at "the bond" between Joel and Ellie. So if the "prequel" is going to happen, we won't feel this "bond" anymore 'cause it'll only focus on Joel's story or Ellie's story. And second, do you know why the developer decided to skipped to the 20 years later? It's the "ENVIRONMENT" for god's sake! The beauty of the environment where "Mother Nature" has reclaimed it's rightful home. And also, say goodbye to clickers and bloaters 'cause it'll need some time for the infected to becoming one of those.

And the prequel will become too predictable. We all already know that thanks to Joel, He and Tommy will survive, which Tommy hopes he didn't. We knew that Joel wouldn't die. We knew he will meet Tess. We knew what is going to happen next.

And for the sequel, I don't think that is a good idea to continue Joel and ellie's journey anymore. Joel is to old for another adventure. So it will only become ellie's journey alone.   The most important element in this game, is the bond between Joel and Ellie.                      So no "Joel", no "Ellie".

If a sequel is going to happen, then it will be better if the story focus on a new character in the same universe. Maybe they can do something for this character to "cross path" with our Favorite duo.

oh and if any of you interested, I'd wrote a fanfic with this idea.

(sorry for the bad english, really bad with grammar)

    • Maybe they could do like a Godfather II thing, where we spend half the game playing as Joel & Ellie in the present, and half the game learning about Joel's 20 mysterious years. Dealing with Sarah's death, his relationship with Tess, the falling out with his brother, hunting, smuggling and surviving the infected.

And when playing in the present, maybe they could have Ellie finding out what Joel did while overhearing a conversation Joel has with Tommy about why and how they came back. And when she hears it, she gets so mad at Joel that she runs away, like she did the first time at the dam, but this time she could travel much further, as there are no hunters nearby to stop her this time. And so we switch between playing as Joel looking for her, and Ellie, surviving the infected, maybe finding a few friends, and making a few enemies, I don't know.

I don't know how they would do the possible sequel, but I know that I won't buy it if it's not about J&E. Okay, I will, but w/e. I will be really sad to say the least. Like probably EVERY ONE ELSE who has played this game, I've never felt so attached to game characters before, probably never any movie characters either, for that matter. But yeah, please reply, whether you like my suggestion or not, whether you want a sequel or not, JUST REPLY GODDAMMIT! But don't hate. dat shet be liek immature

CRAZY IDEA: Ellie runs off to someplace she doesn't know where is, but ends up meeting Bill. Just imagine how fucking hilarious that would be.

    • I feel like if they were going to include Joel and Ellie they should have Ellie discovering the truths of Joel, and the fact he is almost corrupt with his love for Ellie. Also Tommy's nightmaires which are mentioned could be to do with Joel. I would find it interesting if Ellie discoveres all this and how Naughty Dog would play out Ellie's emotions in such a scenario.

How would she deal with Joel caring for her so much, and yet ruining human chances of survival?

    • WARNING: Potential Spoilers to those who have not finished "The Last of Us"

I think that the Last of Us still has potential to move on with Joel and Ellie, who ever said that Tommy's Encampment is invincible, there are still human beings in that encampment, and Human Beings make mistakes, that is enough right there to open up the story. After spending so much time in the heart-warming/sometimes incredibly scary environment of "The Last of Us" I still feel that there is not enough, that I want the story to continue, so that I can find what did happen to this duo.

They could potentially have problems in the encampment, and instead craft the game around Ellie, rather than Joel, similar to the part in The Last of Us, where Joel is injured. You could take Ellie on some type of adventure, give her an incentive to go on this adventure, and give her a partner for the game if needed, She could potentially be solo in the game as well. Without as much of a drastic time jump as in the first game you could take a 3-5 year jump and explain what happened in that time through memories from Ellie, during conversations, or even fill in questions from The Last of Us using the same system or an alternate system (Photographs, Videos, etc.)

Although as always it's agreed that they should take their time, if they plan to make a new game, whatever path they may venture to take.

However to be honest in the same situation I'd likely have taken the same road Joel did. I feel if they DID do a sequel they can't touch this story it would have to be something different but still related maybe other survivors or even a prequel.

And what happens to the fireflies? and how does the chain of command of fireflies work? Are there more superiors who are involved in the outbreak? I am more than satisfied with the story but I cant help but be curious about the outbreak and its origins and is Ellie really the only one who has evolved to be immune to the infection? The government doesn't blame the fireflies for the outbreak... After the outbreak, protestants formed the Fireflies, who made many attacks against the government, that is why they hunt them.

Honestly, i would really hate a sequel like that...  I would prefer if they would just take new characters for a sequel.   Don't get me wrong, Joel and Ellie are my favourite video game characters ever... But i think that they have been through enough shit... And they deserve to have a happy life.

    • Personally, the game left me satisfied. I think a lot of people loved this game so much that they want to see more from Ellie and Joel but to me the ending was satisfiable. Usually games leave you with a lot of unanswered questions that are important to understanding the story, but The Last of Us didn't do that. Even if we don't have everything answered, they're inferrable or rather left up to us how to interpret it. And I agree with Gear3ful, I don't want Ellie and Joel to go through more shit, lol. And I fear for a sequel where Ellie is grown up. I don't want to find out she struggles with Joel's decision to lie to her or to even find out he lied to her. And I don't want a game where you play as Ellie being grown up to turn into a sexist, Laura Croft type game. That would take away from the realism that The Last of Us presented. Speaking of Joel lying to Ellie, I think Ellie had strong suspicions he lied to her, but she accepts his answer and wants to accept it even if it IS a lie because she can't live with the truth that her chance at helping humanity was taken from her. She doesn't want to feel that guilt. Normally Ellie prods people for information if she's feeling lied to, but this time around she didn't ask Joel for answers. She just wanted to know he wasn't lying even if she had doubts, because she WANTED to hear that the Fireflies didn't need her. Because she felt so guilty for the vaccine falling through. And she just wanted to be able to live without the guilt. If she had known the truth she would have felt even more guilty for living.

        Loading editor
    • Winterlotus90 wrote:

I think that she knew that he was lying, but she accepted it... I think she just accepted Joel's answer so they could finally move on and start a new life together. Maybe she wanted to protect Joel... Because Joel saving Ellie, and therefore making the vaccine thing not happen, would be quite a hindrance in their further relationship as "father" and "daughter". So i think that maybe Ellie thought it would be best for Joel and herself if she just accepted his lie.

And so, Ellie could finally move on from her survivors guilt... because there was nothing Ellie could have done about Riley's Sam's and Tess's death. And now she can finally move one. And she can finally have the family she always wanted... Joel.

By the way... do you think that Ellie would have done the same for Joel?

        Loading editor
    • Exactly, Gear3ful. I agree.

Yes I think Ellie would have done the same for Joel. I mean, she sacrificed her life to save Joel when it's clear that she could have gone on without him. She could have seen Joel's near-death experience as a hindrance to her finding a vaccine and she could have left him there to die. But she cares about Joel too. She didn't want to abandon him and if the circumstances were switched I think she would have saved Joel from a death he wasn't in control of even if in hindsight it might have benefitted humanity. She would have found a way to justify it in her head because she loves Joel and needs him in her life. Just as Joel needed her in his life. That's why it's interesting how, after the hospital scene, she didn't prod Joel for details about the hospital. It was almost like she was like, "well, Joel took me out of the hospital for a reason. The Fireflies falling through with a vaccine? That's a bummer. Joel's explanation sounds weird and I doubt what he's telling me.. but I accept what he did. I don't know what down at the hospital and because I doubt Joel's answer I don't think I really want to know what happened. I trust Joel's answer, but it's difficult for me to accept. So I'll make him swear that it's the truth. And if he's lying he can tell me, but if he reaffirms what he says then I have to accept it, whether I believe it or not because I have no say in what happened. I wasn't awake to make the decision. But I want to believe it's the truth because.. I can't live with the guilt. If he's lying to me, he has to live with the burden of denying the world a vaccine. It's not my fault." So I think she knew something more went down and she understands that she was taken out of the hospital for a reason, whether it was because of Joel's "truth" or something else. She just had trouble accepting what he was saying in the end and made Joel swear that he was telling the truth and in a way making him swear that whatever he tells her he's aware that he holds the burden of it all - denying the world a vaccine and also for Ellie feeling the guilt that she is. And by Joel saying "I swear" I think he was basically saying "I accept what you're feeling. I take blame for it all. You have nothing to worry about, let's move on with life."

        Loading editor
    • I believe both will sacrifice for each other to the extend that if one of them died, the survivor will go suicide.

    • Yeah I think Joel probably would have committed suicide and if Ellie survived she probably would have been killed without Joel's protection. She can hold her own pretty well but as revealed with David, she almost lost her life. She was pretty close to dying.

    • Nooooo! EW! No sequel with Tommy and Ellie! For some reason I find that gross and really disturbing, yuck :( A sequel like that would surely make me sad, lol.

I just don't see a point in making a sequel. Sure it made a lot of money but you shouldn't milk something just because it's so popular. If you milk it then it ruins the vision the game developers wanted its players to receive from the game. The game shouldn't have left people feeling empty and devoid of answers. Usually games hint at a sequel needing to be made because the story wasn't able to be finished in a single game or like I said, with Uncharted it's about a treasure hunter - you can make many sequels from that concept because there are many adventures to go on. But with The Last of Us, it had one clear goal and it focused on that and the ending didn't leave room for unanswered questions. A sequel isn't necessary. The only reason they'd make a sequel was for popularity reasons, not to better understand the story because everything was covered. I think a "sequel" would be more of a spin-off of The Last of Us taking place in this type of world but the characters would be different. Personally if they just had DLC and no sequels I would be fine with that. I FEAR for a sequel to The Last of Us if they decide to do that because I'm afraid it would ruin the feeling I got from the game. I hate when movies, tv-series, games, etc. are milked for popularity reasons and it makes me sick of them and it takes away from the respect the game originally got out of me.

I entirely agree with Kimberly's opinion above. how can you assume that the devs will deeply regret it?

ND stated they are ok if they never make any sequel, they have no sign of regret at all, everything is already the best for them too. the only one who will force them to make any sequel is surely Sony, but I'm sure those people know what are they doing if they decided to make any sequel.

and NO, Tommy with Ellie as a pair is certainly a NO. They have no chemistry dude.

    • Here is my best guess on a sequel:

Its going to take place 10 yrars earlier.

You are going to play other characters.

You will meet a younger Joel.

    • I also think that a sequel with Tommy and Ellie would be horrible...    First of all, i really don't want to see Joel die :(  That would be horrible.

And if they will make a sequel i hope that it will feature new characters... or minor characters from the first part. (Because of reasons i have stated earlier in this thread.)

    • Do you think in the future it will be a video game it called:"The Last Of Us Trilogy"? :)

        Loading editor
    • No i don't think so, because that would imply that they would make more parts with Ellie and Joel as the main characters. And i don't really think that they will make two more parts with Joel and Ellie as the main characters... i think they will have new characters.

    • I have mixed feelings about a sequel. I'd want one just to play the game and see where they'd take it but I don't because I don't think they'd top the original.

However, if they were to release a new game, I'd rather it be a prequel - possibly about The  Fireflies, Ellie's mother and Marlene's relationship and then raising Ellie OR even from Sam and Henry's point of view and they have struggled and then met up with Joel and Ellie.

In terms of the future aspect for the game, there's bound to be at least one other person who's immune and it could be a decent plot to have him meet Ellie another 20 years into the future or so...

There's obviously a ton of ways they could carry on this story, but if they don't do anything, I won't be annoyed.

    • An entire game dedicated to side characters in the game? That sounds like DLC to me. I personally wouldn't like an entire prequel or sequel dedicated to characters not pertinent to the story we came to appreciate in TLOU. If they made a prequel or sequel it would most definitely have to contain Ellie and/or Joel to keep up it's popularity. If they did a SPIN-OFF of this game, where it's set in the same apocalyptic world and maybe keep the fireflies and military around, but different characters and different story I can see that happening too. But I think Joel and Ellie's story is done. They could go so many different DLC routes. I'm excited for the DLC. :P

Naughty Dog said that they always want to make the next part of a game better than the first... and i don't think it would be possible that they could make a story that is as good as the original one if we already know what will happen to the characters...

    • I want to see a sequel. One with at least ellie in it. Since ellie is 14 years old you could do so much with her i mean living in that settlement for the rest of her life? I dont see that happening. Look at all the people joel and ellie killed, theres bound to be someone who is looking for them. And if not human infected will drive them away from that place. Prequel i guess you could do that but i dont like it as much as a sequel.Joel will be killed in the sequel or die of old age the man is around what 50 years old? He dont got long to live especially when they are gonna fast forward a few years. So much that could be happening with ellie still. I just cant believe its the end already.

        Loading editor
    • Just because you're 50 doesn't mean you're going to die soon, lol.

        Loading editor
    • Personally, the ending left me unsatisfied; it was engaging, but then it ended on a lie. Ellie evidently knows that Joel is lying yet still simply says "Okay." Then the game ends.

Despite this, the rumours of a sequel have me very excited: it gives the chance to continue the story of the characters I love more than most. If there is a sequel though, they have to keep Joel and Ellie in it, or at least just Ellie; in a lot of ways the Last of Us is Ellie's story. The potential for that story to continue is huge: just one example is that Tommy's 'haven' gets overrun and Joel and Ellie (or even just Ellie) have to traverse the world in search of some other way to cure the Infection. Halfway through the story, Joel could get bitten and therefore they only have two days to cure the Infection. The potential would then open up for more sections to play as Ellie.

Failing that; it would be enough for me if Naughty Dog did what Bioware did with Mass Effect 3: created an extended ending.

        Loading editor
    • Stop saying that if they make a sequel, they should have it on Xbox. This is Naughty Dog, you know that they won't do that.

I don't think that Joel would have died the original ending...    I think Naughty Dog said that the original ending was much happier than the final one...    Ellie believed Joels lie and they started a new life in San Francisco.

    • True, and uh I dunno if you guys know it, when I googled about that alternative ending, I found a site assume Ellie was originally designed as a mature woman -not an adolescent- and she was possible love interest for Joel. Early draft of the game was using Elena Fischer as her model.

      http://egamer.co.za/2013/08/early-drafts-of-the-last-of-us-had-ellie-as-a-love-interest/

I personally think that is solely imagination of the reviewer. But who knows?

        Loading editor
    • I also think that it is just the imagination of the reviewer.   They said that the earliest plot thoughts were a man who has basically been tortured (not really) the last twenty years and has almost no humanity in him, meets a girl who makes him more humane again. And the girl is (in the beginning) more inncoent and by the end, she larns to be a survivor.

But i think that Ellie's change of character is not too big in the real game.  Because she is not nearly as innocent as she would have been in the original ending.

It is quite big imo, the alternative story is the better version to portray Ellie as a daughter, she is innocent and need to be protected and escorted (just like Sarah and Clementine), even the ending is happy ending.

The real story however portray her more like a partner in a doomed world.

But it was a very cool moment in the game when Ellie saved Joel and then later Joel admitted that she saved his life.

      Dude you're a badass haha

For your information Ellie never shot a person before, so it is safe to assume she isnt really good handling gun. She used BB rifle, but BB's is only a replica. So that time when she saved Joel, it was her first time using a real gun. The earlier part where she stated she needed a gun at Bill's safehouse is more likely for showing off that she is not requiring any babysitting, she clearly not good with gun.

If you give her gun from the start, she is more likely to hurt herself. Be thankful to Joel who put stress to her so she now becoming more careful using guns. So yeah, time-wise Joel is right to give her that pistol at Pittsburgh.

I Just want Ellie feel the best and who will mess with her she will kicks his ass and of course it will be easier to Joel to kill Infected and all the other groups like Fireflies or Hunters

By The Way Ellie should be more aggresive and to train her she will have some fight skills

Simply because the story would be weaker... i mean not as good as in the first part.

I understand, but I FEAR that if there is a sequel with just Ellie that it's going to turn into a Lara Croft type game where she's sexualized and then it will be a male-targeted game. I would hate to see that happen to Ellie. But if they could keep her image clean like Elena in Uncharted, then that would be cool.. Ellie doesn't dress provactively anyway. She's more of a tom-boy. I know we all love Joel and Ellie, but I fear what a sequel would do for the franchise.. :/ I would hate for it to be overdone just because fans wanted a sequel when it wasn't necessary. A sequel really ISN'T necesary. They'd only do it for the fan-base.

    • Well honestly, I guess they should just make the sequels firstly cause its better that way, cause one day when the fans already forgot about TLOU 1,2 or 3 they still remember TLOU cause after the long gap after TLOU 3 or maybe 4, there will be a prequel. I mean come on did you guys already thought about what Ive just typed?:sequels first than prequels or I guess prequel. So its like, good for fans and good for Naughty Dog, and maybe your ideas spin offs. So yeah, both of it will be better!

I'm sure there are still a lot of ideas that ND can came up with. But what about the bond between Joel and Ellie have right now? If they're going to be the main character in the sequel, that means ND is going to "repeating" the bond between Joel and Ellie had.

I know that wasn't sound so bad. But why repeating yourself while you have the chance to make another amazing masterpiece from that universe? And the developer said that the last thing they wanna do is to repeat themselves.

Plus, If Joel and Ellie are going to be the main character in TLoU2 or 3, in my opinion Joel is definitely going to die. I don't want that to happen despite the fact that could be an amazing sad story plot.

But again this is ND we're talking about. They never cease to amaze me.

A gauntlet accross the US to try and find a safe haven--or better yet someone who can come up with a cure without killing her--have the tension reveal itself through Ellie learning about Joels lie--have them rebuild the realtionship--have her understand why. It isnt that hard--the only problem would be waiting to improve the game mechanics--which were absolutely fine--a couple of tweaks wouldn't be bad--say --crafting bullets or building a better melee weapon---but nothing too outlandish. The story is doen when the artist--the writer says it is and the reader or player stops reading or playing. Thats the way it works. So on with the sequels. Hell that engine and back story would be perfect for any number of games.

    • It's typically called an "Open ending" which means the player has the opportunity to decide how it ended for themselves.  I like it this way, I imagine Joel goes on a few more years and keeps his promises to Ellie (teaching her to swim, play guitar etc) before age wearies him or his luck runs out.  I feel that if they were to continue with a sequel there would at least be no Joel and possibly Ellie, even if her part was small.  But, I wouldn't be phased if a sequel never came about.

    • I right hear me out here. I have some ideas for a sequel. Here we go: Soon after the ending, Joel & Ellie encounter a group of survivors, Ellie's age, whom are immune(Like Ellie herself). This survivors have built a home from the the ruins of their hometown and lead Joel & Ellie to it, where they are attacked by the U.S. military, or what's left of it, as Ellie and  the survivors are considered infected. After said battle the survivors are so destroyed that only the few that started it survived ( I was thinking somewhere between 5 & 10). The survivors begin to resent Joel and Ellie and begin blaming them for their misfortune, except their calm-headed leader, who has kept them all alive untill now. Ellie, Joel and the leader (couldn't think of a name sorry) begin a rocky friendship with Joel and X (lets just call him or her "X" because it's a variable and sounds really cool) occasianlly butting heads. Evantually X starts showing an atraction to Ellie, with Joel being unapprovening. The rest of the survivors, still resentful and untrusting, like Joel, don't approve and all of them try to break them up. This entire time they've all been traveling around, just geting enough supplies for everyone. Then one day the survivors (except X) decide that they should just get rid of Joel (everyone had taken a likeingt o Ellie) since to them Joel seems just to be dead weight (none of them heve seen him in action) and try to dispatch him ( by somemeans I have not thought of yet). But instead they injure X. And that's as far I've gotten. Let me know what you think and if I made any goofs.

        Loading editor
    • I really liked the ending. I think it was more or less a happy ending (in an unhappy tone). It just wasn't quite as climatic as endings often are.

        Loading editor
    • I'm not sure what sort of ending people are after, I thought it did it justice. After the original "Outbreak" Joel is a character who does not want attachments and is self assured; Ellie is a child burdened with the being the "saviour" of mankind. By the end of the game we see a full role reversal Joel needs Ellie and has lost that self assurance cause he has something to lose. Ellie is no longer carries the burden of "saviour" and has embraced the thought of helping mankind... Did people want to be left hanging for a sequel?

    • I would love a sequel with more Joel and Ellie, I trust ND to make another amazing and captivating story. People didn't wnat Uncharted 2 and look what they did, made an even better game than the 1st. I have no doubt ND could make a Last of Us 2 about Joel & Ellie which is even better than the first game.

    • I will be happy if TLOU 2 will be on Joel & Ellie after the ending but I dont belive its will be but Im still hoping

just to be honest maybe in december we will see a new video about Joel and Ellie in VGA event after all TLOU is succsessful game the story too and its graphics are amazing ! :D

      Im crossing my fingers :)

    • Well,I really, really expect that TLoU 2 would be great and had Joel and Ellie in it,cause it'll be awesome.I mean I wanna see what'll happned to Ellie!Wonder if the teenage Ellie looks like Jodie Holmes from Beyond:Two Souls......

        Loading editor
    • awwww forget it I dont want to see Ellie bleeding form her nose with two sould its gross(like in beyond two souls chapter 2 the party you should see it)

yeah Jodie Homles she is pretty but someone she is really remind me Ellie is Lara Croft form Tomb Raider :D

      what are you think?

    • If they were to do a sequal which involved both Joel and Ellie, I think that Ellie would almost definatly be the main character. The story would likely center around Ellie piecing things together and finding out what Joel did. Of course, there would be a great deal more depth to this story, some kind of rift between Joel and Ellie, possibly even a death. I would love to see a conclusion to Ellies story, as I think Joel's is nearing its end, if not finished.

    • Even Joel have Ellie he still missing to Sarah after all she is hes real daughter and "baby girl"

if 10-20 years will go form the ending Ellie will grown up and Joel will past but I think its will be nice if Joel will meet Sarah in the next world its will be happy in my opininon

      what are you think?

    • Okay...it is kinda gross if she had to bleed from her nose whiches kinda gross....well,but I want to see the teenage her,I'm just imagining it,but it's kinda funny though since I saw from Pewdiepie walkthrough when it yelled Unacceptable,so funny! But I still curious what would she looks like?Bet she looks like her,I dunno, but I want her back seeing her tryna find out what's Joel's hiding on his back from her.Try to think and that hate ending or beginning at the sequel might actually happens while Joel was try to hide it,Ellie could've been agressive and tryna kill him just to know the truth so much and especially if he spelt the secret about he killed Marlene just to rescue her despites the fact that she said:"that's what she wanted" thing.....and Joel just kill her like that though Ellie could be so angry and just leave him alone forever maybe but one day she'll came back...I dunno htat much...

i donnot want it if the prequel goes back 2 sarah dying, i cry everytime it happeneds, just the other day i saw it and it didnt go very well.

id also want 2 play them surviving at tommys, because u know not all of the zombies are clear though i wish those freaking bloaters where gone! ;-)

Honestly i think joels story is over and it time to move on, maybe with ellie as the main charater so we can learn more about her side of the story. Also maybe the dlc is about ellie and riley because why would she just mention her briefly at the end of the game, and did you see ellie's bite at the end, it looked way way worse!!

or maybe a sequel after Joel & Ellie in Tommy dam maybe on Tommy dam could be a fireflies attack or Infeceted ambush maybe war with hunters or cannibals I wish they will not do that because its will ruined the good ending after all we want Joel & Ellie alive with happiness

If its before the ending could be 5 years or 10 years after the Outbreak maybe we will see Joel and Tommy how tehy left each other maybe Tommy will be a new playble character

maybe Ellie and Riley or Ish and Danny (I think its will be on the single player DLC)

    • I think that the game needs to be a sequel. People will miss Joel and Ellie. ND have done a great job with TLoU and I understand people don't want to ruin it by making a number 2, but I would like to see what they would do. If new characters were brought into a second one, then it would make you wonder what an earth happened to Ellie and Joel after they went to Jackson. I also know that a lot of people wanted to see more of Ellie and play more as her because it was great when you had that chance! I have an idea for a second game which includes Joel and Ellie. I really hope they do make a second one and if they do hopefully it will include Joel and Ellie and maybe add and bring back some characters such as; Bill, Tommy, Maria and maybe a Callus 2 :D They could also include flashbacks for people who want a prequel. The only problem with the prequel is that Ellie wouldn't be in it so it wouldn't really be the same as they game is sort of about a father and daughter journey across U.S.A. Certainly needs a sequel!!!!

    • As I said, I have an idea for a second one which I will post at some point but if Joel was to die in the second one, I think he should get infected and Joel doesn't want to turn so she might have to leave or her having to kill him. Her having to kill him would be a big shock and she would be scared to do it as she said, she is scared of ending up alone. Or maybe they could have a main villian who was to kill Joel instead.

    • The Last of Us, was by far, the most interesting game, I've ever played. It's quite clear to me that the creators, knew exactly what they were doing. Infact, I would not mind at all, if they were to make a movie based on this game. Yes, it was that interesting ot me. Fun to play, a blast to learn, the difficulty level was amazing, not to easy, nor to hard. Just enough to play comfortably.... At times, it had some starteling scences, which made it that more of a thrill to play. This game would def. make for a good movie JUST the way the story was told... However, some twists would prolly make it better. This game was also full of emotions, happy, sad, scared, confused, love, hate... All in all just a wonderful game, I would love to see a sequel, I would love to be able to play Joel and Ellie and continue the story where it did in fact seemed to be left off at.... I mean, where did they go, what did they do? What was next?

        Loading editor
    • "I can clarify that quote, because I've seen it misquoted," Druckmann told me yesterday. "I saidthis journey for Joel and Ellie is complete. In a spoiler sense, I was referring to the journey with the Fireflies and what they're after with the cure and all that. We're not continuing that.

Not sure if this has been said already, but the sequel might have Joel and Ellie in it, according to this quote

        Loading editor
    • What gets me is that Joel lied to Ellie at the very end and didn't tell her about denying a cure to save her life. It seemed to me that the end of The Last Of Us indicated that a sequel was in order, knowing that the truth would eventually be revealed to Ellie. I thought this would open a new can of worms in the dynamics of the Joel-Ellie relationship. I feel like they could very easily make an incredibly interesting sequel to this game with Ellie and Joel. I would be one of many to preorder that. The Last Of Us is hands down the best game I've ever played.

    • It won't start off with them? Well,I was hoping that the next sequel would started with Ellie or Joel or both of them.Actually I was thinking that maybe the third TLoU would be with Joel and Ellie I mean they could create a sequel that start off with them at any time tho. Like for example,Silent Hill, the main trilogy are Silent Hill Origins,1,3 while the launch off of the game had the diffrent time like Origins was in 2007 even though it was supposed to be the first of every silent hill in the trilogy coz even the event after origins is silent hill 1 still, silent hill 1 is the first and SH3 is the second while the beginning was the third  actually it's kinda weird but the fans still love it I was hoping that TLoU would do the same thing but I think no. Really,I just notice that so for the next time,I hope they made it for our old protagonists,I'm ganna missing them a lot :)

    • I don't want a sequel. I've been playing video games since the '70s, and The Last of Us is my favorite of all time. It is simply the best video game I have ever played. It is a novel I would like to read, and a film I would like to watch. Great novels and films often don't need a sequel because they accomplish all they needed. Few sequels are better than the original. Ellie and Joel's story was told excellently. The ending wasn't a cliffhanger to me. It said that from that point on, Ellie and Joel were family. A sequel might see Ellie learning the truth, or Joel dying, or Ellie falling in love, or payback from the Fireflies. I think, like the game itself, the journey is what is important, not the destination. I'd rather see Naughty Dog create a new story with new characters told with this same level of dedication. i realize the temptation to bank on the quick sell that a sequel would surely be, but frankly, if it has Naughty Dog on it, or either Druckmann or Straley behind it, I will grab it. I went into this game not realizing that it was the same studio that did Uncharted.

Or maybe the infection could get worse to make better and more feirce gameplay. Then Joel and Ellie are shown to how they battle the day and night of living around infected.

I don't want seeing them had to live a life like that,I mean we don't even know yet,if they're still friends or not, remember when he lied? It could've broke her bond with him and plus, fierce zambies? Well, tather choosing fierce zambies,I think I would choose infected animals more than those fierce zambies your talking about.I mean they already had clickers and bloaters as the most fierce, that doesn't fierce enough for you?

    • I really feel that there could be a great possibilty in both a prequel and a sequel. In a prequel they could go through the story of how joel and tommy got from austin all the way to boston and why tommy made the decision to take up with the fireflies, and in a sequal they could make it maybe for years later when ellie is 18 and she then finds out that joel lied to her and expand a story off of ellie.

        Loading editor
    • My vote is for a sequel.

Children that age slowly due to being born of a person injected with a spore but not turned yet and a normal human (all of this happen post infection). The children should already be adults but they aren't.  They have clicker like attack movements but more sophisticated.  They are an Urban legend known as Stillborn Kids. And Ellie's infection pattern amplifies theirs, causing them to release spores and infect all around them.

There is a pubescant girl, their leader ( Queen Fungi ) who is in actualitt the oldest one there.  Final Boss for later.

Basically the Stillborn are a failed covered up Firefly experiment from the beginning turned loose killing and making fertilizer for the Queen anyone whoo happens through.  They plan to murder all authority figures nearby and create an empire.

Joel and Ellie run into another group, a man and son.  They try to kill each other but the son survives.  Ellie insists he come with to be peaceful.  Through all this they fall in love.  Joel is now saddled with handing off Ellie as a metapor since he finished raising a girl.

        Loading editor
    • So,you're saying that there would be another one that would look like Ellie? Well, wow, that would look just like RE then, Fireflies is Umbrellla while those kids were Alice and the one who leads Fireflies and the government and military were like Wesker,no offense.

    • I honestly think they are done with the story between Ellie and Joel. Because there really wouldn't be much left for Ellie and Joel to make a good full length game/story as the main characters as they did with its predecessor.

What I would like to see was about the life of Ish. You know the guy notes you've been finding all over the place. Find out how he survive, how he started he's community in the sewers, the encounters he came across, the ups and downs between him and his companions, to me he seem to play some major role in finding the fireflies. Could he be co-founder to the fireflies, or the guy who inspired Marlene? Could he of been Ellie's father? Who is he?

Now that's a game I would love to play if a "The Last Of Us 2" were in the progress. We could see how the two story linked to one another. Learn more about Marlene and Tommy learn more about the fireflies as well as the Government.

    • ^I should say that this is all just pure speculations here. But god damn that would make a pretty decent game to fill in The Last Of Us shoes so to speak. You know, unravelling how everything went to shit. (I'm the above poster btw)

    • Oh....,everything went to shit? What? There's nothing went to shit in The Last of Us,unless you meant the apocalypse, hunters and those fireflies people.Anyway,I would love to see another one with an OC if you ND and you guys don't mind, buuuuuut, there's one thing that should've been in the next one,it's whether Ellie or oel in the next game,I only ask for one original The Last of Us character.

    • I don't watch the Resident Evil movies.  The games are the only accurate plot.  No he wouldn't be just like Ellie.  He would just be a boy for her to start falling for and Joel having to somehow 'hand her off' to him as her 'father' to complete the cycle.  I was sort of imagining the queen of the Stillborn to be a final boss character.  They are unaware of her until roughly half way through the game.

This is only the storyline for Ellie and Joel, not the entire cast of the game.

    • I hope they do a sequel with Ellie and Joel.. there has to be more :( Even if they make a short appearance in a sequel, it'd just make me wish they were in it even more.

    • I just feel like there could be so much more done to continue the story

    • I hope in the sequel (or prequel) they have something of an open-world environment that allows free roam in an urban/suburban area. Maybe with an in-game economy which would allow you to barter and trade supplies with vendors or other (AI-controlled) survivors in the campaign mode.

    • That'd be cool, but ND hasn't ever done an open world games before.

    • I know that Naughty Dog will include more additional things in the DLC, although American Dreams is a comic-book series constiting of Elllie and her best friend Riley Abel.

I know "The Last Of Us: Left Behind" will be amazing and will open to fans gratfuly!

      !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE READ !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think the fireflies they are all dead because Joel kill them all in the Hospital to save Ellie

However their were some Fireflies that chased Joel while he carried Ellie to the elevator

    • That's true, their were a lot left chasing Joel...

    • I don't think the Fireflies were trying to harm anyone, just to secure Ellie and release a vaccine a (Cure).

    • Don't try to harm anyone? Then why on earth they attacked Joel's first quarantine zone? Just because he was some kind of a smuggler? I don;t understand that but I guess they're not hurting anyone else tho, through the game,I never even see a fireflies kill someone before...the only thing I know that is hurting is that the Fireflies need Ellie to find the cure and for that, they need her brain, what I'm afraid of was how if the surgery failed? How if the vaccine won't work? How if they don't have the right and enough instruments for the surgery and just left her dead if they failed? Well,as far as I know, they won't secure her first just like that. If I could think again,Joel was not attacked there becoz in later phase, the Fireflies would test the vaccine on him and if both of them were a fail experiment, two of them would be a total dead meat or some half-dead walkers with mushroom heads. They would maybe secure her but right in the first time on the surgery, well, that's the part where I hate the Fireflies a lot and Marlene, maybe there were bunch of doctors, but for taking brain samples and opening heads to take it, I don't really trust them since the situation is just not right for a surgery in the head for brain....-_-

    • I kinda want to know about Ellie's dad. The game mentions her mother, but no one has ever mentioned her dad. Maybe there is a good reason why they left him out of the story

    • NinjaFatGuy I read your comment and I think you have somethings a little mixed up. They dont live at the plant. Then the settlement would be pointless. Also at the time of infection there were billions of people on the planet. Thinking that this is just localized to america is pretty foolish. If it was some other coutry would have sent support in to help us stomp out the infected life would have gone back to normal pretty fast. SO say 1/4 of the earths population is infected. That is still a couple billion people. 1/4 of the populations are killed by infected or by soldiers and crossfire. That leaves half the planet. SO 1/4 of the surviviors are straight up murdered by eachother for suvival greed or food. So that leaves 1/4 of the population in the QZ. Those numbers get smaller and smaller every day times 20 years. The number of infected rise, The number of people killed by hunters rise. So in 20 worst case maybe 3/8 of the populations is civilian (thats being loose with it) and the remainder of that is militant. So at the rate of infection that 2+billion infected has grown more than it has shrank. Meaning that we are extremely out numbered.
