The Last of Us Wiki

My idea for The Last Of Us 2:

  • Many people would love to see a sequel or a prequel on this wikia but many others don't. I personally would love to see a sequel defiantly with Ellie and Joel! I know some people want to see other characters but it would just leave me wondering about what happened after Joel lied to Ellie. What happened to other survivors like Bill, Maria and Tommy? Where did Joel and Ellie go and what did they do when the game finished? There was a point near the end of the game, just before the giraffe point, Ellie was really quiet, why? There are a lot of questions that fans would be left with if new characters took over the main roll. And the title The Last Of Us states that they are the last of the survivors. Not many people lived and probably about 3/4 of the people that survived are bad.

Anyway here's my idea: So the game would start from where they left off. They could be walking down the hill, Ellie wouldn't be talking, she would be silent as Joel tells her the things he will teach her. How to swim, to shoot properly, hunting etc... They reach down to the village place and carry on walking. They could be going to Tommy's but it might be a bit far so you would be adventuring to Tommy's for a while. Once they get there, they see Tommy and Tommy welcomes them to stay with him and Maria. Then the credits appear. While the credits are rolling at the beginning you could see flashbacks over the past year they have been at Tommy's and Joel teaching Ellie new things etc... Then it says one year later and Ellie is out hunting and she hears a scream in the forest so she runs and finds a man trying to shoot Maria and Joel kills him. He looks at the mans clothes and sees a logo on it. The logo is a new group. They could be after Ellie and Joel for information on the Fireflies as the Fireflies know the cure. A few weeks later, an earthquake strikes out of no where and Ellie and Joel are separated. By the time Ellie wakes up, Joel has already gone looking for her. For a lot of the game Ellie could be trying to find Joel and Joel trying to find Ellie. Ellie would meet new characters along the way including a girl a bit younger than her that has lost he parents and her sister. She also meets a woman who is Joel's ex wife and also the leader of the group that tried to kill Maria. She is nice to Ellie and tricks her into thinking she is looking for someone too. Eventually Ellie over hears that he is evil and runs away. The woman soon realises she gone and goes looking for her. Ellie finds Joel soon after and tells Joel everything. A few months later the woman finds Ellie and Joel and makes the unconscious. She takes them into a building with loads of infected inside and they wake up. Joel asks where is Ellie and she tells him that she is safe but it's Joel there after. Then you could see a flashback about Joel and this woman and why they split up. (There would also be flashbacks during the game which would be playable, if not flashbacks could be playable in a dlc?) After they split up, the woman became evil and worked for this group. She wanted to kill Joel and Ellie. They eventually escape and Joel kills her but on the way of getting out, Joel gets bitten. Either he dies or gets treated but if he dies, he doesn't want to turn so he wants Ellie to kill him. Ellie doesn't want to and doesn't want to end up alone. He tells her that Tommy and Maria will look after her. Then what happens is up to ND. I will be writing a letter to ND about my idea and seeing if they liked it or not.

Please post your comments on what you think about my idea and whether you want to see Joel and Ellie in the second one or do you want a second one? Thanks, EllieCroft37 :)

    • Good thinking on your idea!!! I would love to see the flashbacks between them, what happened to both of them tilll they had to split up.I think this idae would be really great though it'll had some angst on it.I mean I would terribly cry if I saw Joel died and Joel told Ellie to kill him and after he was killed by Ellie,Ellie crying out loud over him.....;_; but it'll be good,I'm sure that everyone in this wiki would actually agreed about your opinion for the second game!I'll give you a thumbs up if I logged in.Nice idea,ND would love to received it,I'm sure about it!

    • They might as well reunite the Ben 10 cast by adding Yuri Lowenthal & Greg Cipes into the next game as new characters. I could also imagine Paul Eiding (Voice of Roy Campbell in the Metal Gear series) voicing a Military General in the next game.

Yuri was in The Last of Us as additional voice over, he notably voiced one of the cannibals interrogated by Joel.

Also not to mess with the idea EllieCroft37, most gaming companies are by contract not allowed to take fan ideas for a plot, just thought I'd say.

When I said "new characters", I really meant that I would love to see TLOU chemistry between Yuri Lowenthal, Ashley Johnson & Greg Cipes like in Ben 10: Alien Force & Ultimate Alien.

I always thought that some of gaming industries would ever capable to make fans idea becoming a game or a sequel.....I think for this sequel,I would really love your ideas about combining the voice actors into the game such as Yuri Lowenthal or maybe Paul Eiding from MG series. But for the second time I wanted to ask something from all of you,if we already had those voice actors in our head, could you at least describe me the characteristic for them in the game like Yuri had to be who,Greg Cipes had to be who.If some of you describe it, maybe we'll get another clue towards TLoU 2 idea.

    • I do not like the idea of following the same characters and answering unanswered questions. All of these questions you stated should not be answered, simply because when you answer these sorts of questions the story does not stay with you. You dont think about it, and within 4 hours you discard your leftover constant thought and wonder about the story. A good story stays with you for days upon days until you begin and end another. Long paragraph short, The Last of Us should begin at 1 and end at 1.

    • Well, you wanted to know my idea? Actually I wanted to see Ellie grown up with Joel and actually I would love it if the first scene was taken on Joel's grave, like the grown up Ellie put some flowers on his grave and when she turns back a member of the Fireflies stole her and took her away,no if you ever thought that my ideas were suck, that's alright but spit me up your more cooler idea about the second TLoU. So when he/she took her away, right from that start,it leads them to a whole new beginning like the real, the person who stole her is a good person or rather ND just wanted to gave it a little bit more advanturous for the player like the person wanted to take her to the Fireflies where if it gave her to them,it'll get some bounty awards, but not long after he made a bond with her,he realized that for what having an infinite supplies if he had to sacrifice someone that he/she loved. When they were resting somewhere, the Fireflies ambushed them and kidnapped Ellie while the person was abandoned there on their spot alone so the player will had a task with finding Ellie and brought her up with him. After he got to the fireflies,he sneaked up through the vent and saw Ellie in a hospital robe and the doctor was already holding a scalpel and ready to pick up her brain out of her head for the vaccine. And so he had to sneaked up more to get out and save herand brought her up safely. Now I would prefer while we're rescuing Ellie we would have a timer at the screen,if the time was over,When you got to the OR,you'll see Ellie's already dead and someone shot you from behind. For more crystal clear explenation,I would actually may add a cutscene at the resting spot where the new leader of the Fireflies popped up,saying some few lines and then knocked it's head. And I would add this option thing where your protagonist A.K.A the person with Ellie had a diary or a journal wich will popped up the tasks you had to do in all of the game(,same as in the Last Stand Union City free online game if you ever played it)cause I think it'll be more heavier for the players to ever finished the game with some tasks and hard locations to explored and more higher levels of infected, and may I add that you could actually talk to Ellie.(if just it's in PC for a while or the DLC)So you may type something to talk with her like for example:Hey Ellie.come on and lighten up the mood!' or something you want, but only if it fits everyrthing in the game,if not,the typing bar would never popped up any words,so,that's my long crazy idea? Don't like it?Okay, fine then!

    • I hope there's a sequel. But as Druckmann put it, he's not gonna do it unless the follow-up story is TOTALLY COMPELLING.

That said, EllieCroft, I found it hard to read ur idea cuz u dont break things up into paragraphs--by scene/location. I know it's not a screenplay, but cmon. ONE GIANT PARAGRAPH LOL?? I really hope u didn't send it to ND like that.

But on topic, I think "Tommy Town" would have to fall somehow. It's maybe even already fallen when Joel and Ellie arrive. Joel's idea of a normal life again with Ellie is cut short by a series of events that cause Tommy Town's eventual collapse. Maybe the military seizes their electricity, and demands their livestock, crops, etc. Maybe the winter is brutally cold, and without electricity, they have to create large fires, constantly arousing the attention of nearby bandits. Maybe just like Ish's sewer refuge gets over-run because of "one open door", the hydroelectic plant gets over-run cuz of a STUPID mistake.

Even without Marleen, clearly some Fireflies survived. Perhaps Tommy Town sets up short-wave radio, and hears the Fireflies broadcasting how Joel kidnapped Ellie. What would the residents of Tommy Town think? Hate him, understand him? Kick him out of town?

-I agree, there needs to be a new faction.

-Need a new type of Infected too....or at least WAY MORE stalkers....they were bad-ass and under-used IMO.

-The cordyceps fungus mutates....gets worse somehow?

      -DRAGONS!!!

Druckmann sez that Ellie knows she can't trust Joel, and maybe feels she needs to leave him somehow--to go be the cure. I know a lot of people don't want to believe that, but there would need to be a sense of tension/restraint there on Ellie's side. Maybe she's "quiet" again, as Joel teaches her to swim.

Way more room for prequels IMO. Would love to see Ellie's mom, even Joel's ex-wife. How did Joel get to Boston from Texas? Seeing civilized people turn into "what people are really like" after the first few weeks of the outbreak could be a nice emotional roller-coaster.

        Loading editor
    • The problem with a prequel would be that we would already know what will happen to the characters (unless they use new ones).

Naughty Dog always tries to make the second part of a game better than the first.               And with a story-driven game, it would be very hard to make  better sequel if you already know what will happen to the characters...

        Loading editor
    • No offense, but I think ND would create a new character and will leave them alone, the old ones,I believe many fans of Ellie and Joel would get mad or maybe make a strike on it but I think they would make the new one, seriously, for me,I just realized that if we use the old ones again, they would start at he same point again, they would be in the same old places again like the dam, nothing would be new, only some new places discovered like maybe Texas or some new Fireflies hideout and just like the old days. I would miss it,but I kinda wanted to see new things and new characters without them dying or dead somehow. I don't know about you,but I wanted to try some new ones,I mean just give the new characters a chance for awhile,I'm sure they would desifn it better and maybe there will be some utscenes about the old characters.I know I'm beeing bipolar by saying,I want Joel and Ellie back again and than said these things, but I really, really want some new characters and new topics and new tragedies, and I'm sorry if these words are annoying, but I'm just saying my ideas about it.

    • I liked the beginning of it, with the new group and all, but that'll all basically be a repeat of what happened in the first one; Marlene and such. Also I found the "Joel ex-wife" part really cliche. There's a saying that things are better left unsaid...and I don't think it only refers to insulting someone, I think it can also refer to secrets and such. It's what keeps things exciting and what makes us think (which resulted in you making this idea).

I like your creativity, but If Naughty Dog ever made a sequel, I would really, really like it to focus on a different group of characters and probably along the way we either see a cameo appearance of Joel and Ellie or they find a note or artifact related to them. New feels and new questions. What more could you ask for?

    • There's a few problems: at the end of TLoU, they were at least in the same county as Tommy's Dam, so they aren't really all that far away from it. 2: There's no fault line in Wyoming. 3: Joel and his wife split up before the outbreak, shortly after Sarah was born if I'm correct. So that DLC would be pretty boring.

    • Remember what Ellie's mother wrote to her, she said she was not a big fan of kids and hates babies. She underlined the word hate.

I fear that Ellie was a mistake, that her mother was raped and had gotten pregnant. Marlene knew this, she didn't want Ellie to suffer the same fate as her mother, so she gave a go ahead with the surgery.

By becoming pregnant, Anna had found her reason to fight for, she wants to live for Ellie, but tragicaly she died.. From what? Was she bitten and infected when she gave birth to Ellie? Who knows we can only speculate what happened.

        Loading editor
    • The notes said so? Dang, that lady was poor as heck then.....even tho she's a mistake or I could say accident, but she's still a kind kid,really....If ND gave us a chance to just know what the heck had happened to her and how Ellie got birth....I'll be super grateful,I mean why not the DLC is about that, that way,we could know the origins of Ellie clearly,I mean the DLC is like American Dreams made up into a game and that's pretty much boring if I could confess,I mean we know who Riley is,we know how she died, and we don't need a scene about her death since it's a little tragic if you know what I mean,so this is my confessions finally,I spit it out,you could say I'm a douche, idiot,an asshole or something, but I'm just being honest about what's going on with the DLC. I clearly I mean maybe we,clearly need to know how's the past of each characters that being the protagonists, how the infections spread and everything not something that we,the big fans of The Last of Us already know. After this, you could expel me from the wiki if you want, but just rethink about this again in your head.

        Loading editor
    • Trust me I feel the same way you do. I.. We, need closure. Whether it's good or bad I want to know what happened and understand everything. But then again thats what makes this game or any story soo freaking good, it lets you use your imagination run wild on what went down. But still leave you wanting more.

Like in the book The Hobbit, who was the necromancer in Mirkwood? I so wanted to find more about it and all that but the book did not tell me anything more other then it was very powerful and dangerous.

I can't be dissapointed in it at all, honestly.

We've had enough of Joel and played as him throughout the whole game. Seeing something a little more from Ellie's POV and past would be nice. They'll probably tell how she got that scar on her eyebrow.

    • After thinking so many times about the DLC,I found out that,I don't think that that's the thing that I want the most, what I want the most is the origins of how those mushrooms head could be from,I mean I already know them from American Dreams, and,do I have to know about them again? I'm bored, man. All I think about now is the origins of the infections, just the origin, you know, like we could've control a stranger and this stranger guy works in somekind of a lab or facility that cause the infections.Or does it have to be in the second one? The DLC is for our last goodbye to Ellie? Well,I could say that's fair enough,I could wait tho...

      Agreed.

Normally, a sequel is never as good as the first, and trying to make a sequel out of this would just be plain difficult.

but the most thing I want to see is Anna and Ellie father how they look how they met each other

I will like to see Joel & Ellie after the ending they new life :D

    • Everyone has their own opinions so there isn't a right or wrong idea. I, obviously, want to see Joel and Ellie because there are questions to be answered but I have randomly thought of an idea without them.

There could be a family, (mum, dad, younger sister, and older sister,) and the infection could of broken out and the dad and mum know about it but don't want to tell their kids because it will scare them. The dad decides to take them away to somewhere safe and camp there. He gets out of the car and gets bitten. He manages to escape and hurries into the car and drives off.

The next morning, the older girl wakes up and hears a weird and creepy noise outside. She notices there is a gun in his bag so she takes it and sees that her dad was moaning (like a runner,) and goes over to him. He turns around and attacks her and she screams. She panic's and doesn't know what to do so she shoots him without thinking.

10 years go by and the mum, older sister and the younger sister are suffering the new life of America and surviving. They could be out, looking for food and a group (Hunters or someone) takes their mum.

      Joel and Ellie 2

      Ellie and Joel.

Throughout the game the younger sister and the older sister have to find their mum. I was also thinking that the older sister could be shot so the younger sister can take over the main roll. She can meet people along the way too.

Now, I still want to see Joel and Ellie if they made a second one but this is just an idea. Share your thoughts :)

        Loading editor
    • Seems like it could be a good idea. But the group that takes them doesn't nessecarily have to be Hunters. We don't have to have a game in the same locations as the first one.

        Loading editor
    • I approve Joel and Ellie returning for a sequel, But I'm actually itching to see a prequel that takes place throughout the first 4/5 weeks of the outbreak starring young

Joel, Tommy, and High School aged Tess (oh, and showing us how Joel first met her).

        Loading editor
    • Well,it could be a good idea tho, about a prequel,I'm itching too tho to have a prequel,I mean why not a The Last of Us Trilogy, like the first one is about after the prequel, howbout each prequel is about the past of the main TLoU characters themselves? I mean the idea about the DLC,should've been just replaced by something else since the trilogy could've beeen epic by inserting 1 prequels or 2 prequels with some of our characters past. The DLC should've been just Sam and Henry, why not like that? I mean the idea about the DLC,should've been just replaced by something else since the trilogy could've beeen epic by inserting 1 prequels or 2 prequels with some of our characters past. The DLC should've been just Sam and Henry, why not like that? You are not wrong! Everyone is intilted to have their own opinion so don't worry! Some people think that a prequel would be better. Some people think a sequel would be better. And some people think that there shouldn't be second one at all.

    • In my idea, I said that Joel could get infected and Joel doesnt want to turn and wants to be killed by Ellie. Ellie either has to shoot him or she can't do it and she leaves him to turn. Even if you didn't want this to happen, what would you think Ellie should do?

        Loading editor
    • @EllieCroft37,thanks for making me feel better.Well,I love your idea about him turning, that'll be dramatic but good,I love it, I'd say let him turn first and at the middle of the game,or maybe at the end,we encountered the infected Joel,I had an idea about a new kind of infected like Joel is the new kind of those infected,he still looked like a person but moved faster than any other infected so that we could make him as a boss and the final scene of we beating him up,Ellie would cry over him and give him a proper burial.I was thinking,it should've been better in the first so after he's dead,we found another survivor, what do you think? Maybe she could co-op with the new one and a new advanture begins or let's just say that the new survivor is Tommy and Tommy knows his brother's death and after that he moved on and Ellie lived in the dam while after a couple of days,a member of the fireflies asked about Ellie and the newest advanture begins and after that it'll be reveled that Joel was lying that time by her.As she revealed the truth......well I don't know the next thing, but you could go ahead and tell us all your idea tho. That's my unfinished idea,I hope you like it a bit.

    • Your idea is good, but in my opinion, I would probably want Joel to die at the end but that's only if ND made him die... Good idea though.

On the first anniversary of TLOU release date, I will be meeting Yuri Lowenthal and his wife Tara Platt at Supanova Expo. I will ask Yuri, if Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson will be working together on Ben 10 Omniverse and any upcoming Ben 10 movies.

Actually,I was longing to see for Joel's past,so I kinda want to join the game in two different times,it started from where he just woke up from the room he was in 2033,which was the event of TLoU about to begin.Afterwards, when some scenes and adventures occured,it'll bring him back to the past, which we could play like in Left Behind, except this was a main game and that the game was longer coz it took like twenty years until the event of the first TLoU occured.I'm just so happy and glad if I could see his past,I mean we could experience the pain Joel had been through for the last 20 years,button-mashing if there's this scene where Joel tried to kill himself but at last he won't,the first time he met Tess, problems with Robert, some missions he had once,it's just awesome if I could see it,and that maybe somehow,in the event of the last of us 2,he met his wife back and that she was a leader of a gang, and he was caught by her than she realized than Ellie tryna rescue him, accidently shooting his wife and the others.I mean all this time,Joel is friggin' mysterious,we knew his past but not his back story and yes I'm a curious gamer and a fan of the last of us and a fan of Joel,so I need to see that kind of the last of us,I don't know about it,whether it's a prequel or a sequel,I jus wanted to dig in all of the character's past.

initially i thought that to. It seemed to me that Ellie has accepted Joel's lie and that the two of them will live happily ever after at Tommy's. But after the TLOU:LB my view has changed. As much as Tommy's town is idilic and perfect to spend the rest of their days, I think that Ellie won't find peace there.  I watched the ending of TLOU, now knowing how much Ellie has lost and it striked me that she is in fact not ok. Far from it. As much as she loves Joel, she was ready to die and she is still waiting for her turn. That everybody's death that happened before or along the way wasn't for nothing. But Joel took that away from her. And so, when she says:"Okay." it sounds more like: "Yeah...we are fine...you are so full of bullshit, Joel".

And in that moment i realised that nothing between them was actually resolved and it wasn't like LOTR:RTK's ending. Now is that story worth exploring? I don't know. But is everything settled between them? No, I don't think so.

    • You know, this idea maybe shot out of the water, but it's just something that crossed my mind. It's never really revealed what happened to Joel's wife and Sarah's mother in the game, so what if she actually was around even after the outbreak started, just out of town. Then, after Sarah's death, her mother figures out that she's immune, so doctor's and even Fireflies try to take a cure from her in the way they were going to with Ellie, but she died and the whole thing was fruitless. With this in mind, Joel never lied, and not only wanted to lose a second daughter, but didn't want to experience another failure such as that.

Yeah, I agree. It just feels like there are too many unresolved emotions and issues that haven't been explained yet. With The Lord Of The Rings, we are left with a satisfying feeling that the story is now over.

Of ourse we don't want it to end so soon, but we can accept it had to end at one point, because the ending doesn't leave you with any major questions.

That was not the case with The Last Of Us, we feel likethere is still a lot of tension between Joel and Ellie and that many things still have to be resolved. It is still a good ending but it is not nearly as satisfying as the one in The Lord Of the Rings.

However, there have been many other great movies and books that have ended on an uncomfortable note, without ever having any sequels.

That is what I fear most, that we will never find out what will happen to Joel and Ellie...

No, Sarah was born and Joel and his wife divorced and, judging by how he said that Sarah was born before, he had never had the chance to go to university which means he couldn't support both of them resulting in the wife leaving Joel. They would never reconnect.

Would that be a cool idea or a bad idea. P.S sorry for horrible english

I mean Joel could be getting flashbacks about the good old days when he and Ellie talks of how it was to live in this world before the apocalypse, Maybe we could find out why Tommy was so skilled With the gun in the prologue and how Sarah got the Money to buy a new watch. Again sorry for bad English.

      What do you mean "flashback"?

        Loading editor
    • One, there is no flashbacks in the original game, so there shouldn't be in the sequal, unless the production value goes downhill, which I really hope doesn't happen.  Two, the entire purpose of the game is to develope the relationship between Joel and Ellie, which was completed.  What we need to see in the game is the relationship between ellie and characters her own age, like we saw in left behind DLC.  My recomendation is that Naughty Dog brings in a 16 year old guy who comes into Tommy's camp with his 5 year-old sister.  Here we would see Ellie growing as a person and developing connections between someone her own age, this could also act as a barrier for Joel.  As he would see her branching out, Joel wouildn't want her to get hurt anymore than she already has by losing someone she loves and cares about.  Also, we could see the sturggles of trying to create a civil environment in something so utterly broken as the world they are living in, and the deaths that would come with it.  All I think is that we need to see Ellie develope relationships with people her own age and Joels reaction to maybe her getting hurt from that.  Maybe we would flash ahead a few years until Ellie is in her twenties and travels the world(or maybe not) on her own, but takes care of herself and has to go through all the bad descisions she would enevitably make on her own.

    • that does sound like a really good outline for a sequel imo. i remember tess saying to joel just before she died something like "we're shitty people joel" so some prequel action where joel and tess are doing their smuggling of guns, food etc maybe and when joel & ellie are ambushed after leaving bill but before they find henry & sam joel says "hes been on both sides" of ambushes so seeing some past action of that would be good i think. could also show bill this way. would like to see him show up in a sequel manner too tho. other prequel flashbacks for joel could just be short and cinematic showing as you said his ex wife (and sarah) & how they broke up.

past cinematic flashbacks for ellie could be about her life in boston showing scenes ive read about from the comic like riley protecting her from being bullied. gameplay flashbacks for her would have to involve maybe her getting in to trouble with trying to explore with riley gone. the idea of joel teaching ellie how to swim, hunt, fight sounds really good. id like to see that in various points throughout the game. ive played the walking dead telltale series and clementine is taught in the 2nd series to attack the lower leg of the walkers. so there are ways for ND to develop the gameplay especially in terms of punching, kicking, etc.

it'd be cool if you could switch between joel and ellie at certain points in the game. like when you run into infected or hunters. as you could upgrade both their skills & weaponry. which would bring in tactical gameplay more.

i think ND could turn this into a trilogy quite easily so wouldnt like to see them kill off joel. i think the idea of joel's ex wife being villany would work well over half the game but using the military is always a good idea. so that would be needed for the other half of the game. during the intro of the game its mentioned that los angeles was the latest city to enter martial law. there could be a need to go one of those cities under martial law.. if the ideas can be thought up as to why joel & ellie have to travel around america i'll definately play it.

        Loading editor
    • Thank you for your comment ^ and the ideas you said like what Clem does it great! I am a huge fan of The Walking Dead too! Obviously with my thing, I said that if Joel got infected, Ellie could shoot him but I wrote that before I played The Walking Dead and when I played The Walking Dead I then realised that it would be copying so I wouldn't like to see Joel being shot anymore :-D

        Loading editor
    • i think too much is made of copying or imitating anyway. i mean you could say the last of us copied walking dead with the idea of transporting a vital individual across the country tho ellie is infected and eugene is a scientist. but theres only so many ideas to be had and for the story to make sense.

it may be the way ND choose to go. tho i guess it is unlikely with it happening between clem and lee in TWD game. i think that they could make it work. tho like i said i think its very easy to turn the game into a trilogy. so if that was the path they'd take ellie would then be alone at the start of the third game if the series got that far.

    • Okay, this is tough but I think that I kinda had to say that the Joel Ellie story is over,I guess that I got enough from them,it's not that I'm already bored with them especially her,no,it's not like that,it's just that I feel like Joel and Ellie are stand-alones. I don't think a sequel would be needed.Sometimes I just feel like that,no offense.I was writing fanfictions and when I think about Ellie's storyline,I got confused,I mean, what are we goung to o with this badass girl? I saw Marek Okon's awesome Ellie artwork and I really love till now and that when I saw the soldiers on the background,I always think, what do you want more with her? I mean the Fireflies could've been dead since Joel killed Marlene.and Ellie already live in Tommy's dam, either happy or not and probably the idea that I could find is Ellie's own life story like you actually play her flashback before that scene you are in.Get it? Like Infamous First Light where you play in Fetch's memory.Because all I could think of is one,a flashback.I can't think of anything else other than that, and I don't know about those soldiers if they still make Ellie the most wanted.I don't really know what to put up.

    • I don't think that's a pheasable idea to be honest. Who is this woman that Joel married? I Sarah's mother? Was he even married to her? Why, after all this time would she care about what Joel is doing? What are the chances of her even being the leader of the group who wanted the Fireflies dead? Who even is that group? Are you talking about the military? Earthquake? That's a poor way of setting a plot in motion. The story was never about the infected, it was about relationships, parenthood, morality and human nature.

    • @EllieCroft37 and Wikia contributor above me, I kinda think about the woman too actually,EllieCroft, can you explain?

    • It's a good idea. The key to it is that anyone who found the fireflies facility in Salt lake city would go looking for Ellie (for fair reason or foul) and there would be a chase on to get hold of her. She would also have to confront Joel when the truth came out, etc.

More than enough fodder for a new game there.

    • I think the last should have a sequel and start off 3 years later where ellie is 17 approaching 18 and during those three years joel has taught her many things and she and joel have been living in the development tommy and Maria made with there crew whom he now is about to have a baby with. But one night a mysterious group attacks the place they manage to kid nap ellie and was also looking for another person a young adult but couldn't find the girl so they end up destroying most of the development. Ellie is taken to a secret place where she meets a middle aged woman, who would be Joel's ex wife and she intends to use Ellie's immune for her own personal game and to only use ellie to find away to lure joel into a trap who she thinks still thinks Sarah is alive and wants to reconcile with her daughter but she doesn't know she's dead until later in the game she finds out and seeks vengeance on joel but ellie somehow she escapes and ends up hiding inside a house where she meets two children and a mother who she bonds with while joel is looking for ellie and on the journey he's having flashbacks on what happen with his marriage, his whole entire years with Sarah and his meeting up with Tess

    • My idea for a sequel to The Last of Us:

15 years have passed since the events of the first game. A vaccine has already been found for the cordyceps vrus but they only work on people who have yet to turn. Those who have been exposed to the virus for more than 2 days are too far gone. Demand for the vaccine is high but supplies are low. The military government struggles to keep raiders & black market sellers away from their product. The world should be in a better place by now, but somehow it seems like there hasn't been much change.

Ellie, now almost 30 years old, is the new leader of a small settlement (not Maria's town). She knows she has responsibilities to the people in her group but her mind lingers back to the time when she could have been the source of the cure. She feels like she could have done so much more and could have "given" the cure to humanity a long time ago but, for Joel's sake, she decided to stick with him. She feels guilty about this but she avoids the issue whenever someone tries to talk to her about it.

Joel, on the other hand, seems to have truly moved on from those events. He has found a new wife, Cassidy, and has a 12 year old son, Elias, in Maria's town. The only two things he mourns everyday is the death of Tommy during a bandit attack a few years ago and Ellie leaving to find her own way after she turned 18. He never did tell her the truth and he now wishes he could. Still, he seems pretty happy with his new family and staying very low key in this well established society.

One day, a group of military personnel attack and take over Maria's town, thinking its existence is a risk for the current authority because of its autonomy and success of survival over the years. They quickly establish it to be a new quarantine zone but in truth they are to use it as a testing ground for a new weaponized version of the cordyceps virus.

Desperate to keep his family alive this time around, Joel tries to sneak out with Casidy & Elias but Joel is captured. Before the military could take him away, Joel tells his family to go to Ellie's settlement miles and miles away and ask for her help. In a race against time, Cassidy & Elias venture out into dangerous territory in the hopes that they can get back with Ellie before it's too late.

Back in Ellie's settlement, a 32 year old wanderer named Antonio joins the group after being saved by Ellie during a regular supply scavenging trip. Antonio is enfatuated with Ellie but her heart is closed off just like Joel's was when they first met. Ellie tries to make the relationship happen but she has seen too many lovers get broken apart by the worst of the infected and of man. Her desire for love and inability to give it is tested when Cassidy & Elias make it to her settlement. Ellie feels that if she can save Joel and reunite him with his family, then maybe there is hope for her & Antonio. That maybe not everything is broken. If Joel, who had been broken for so long could still be repaired (even if his healing began by lying to her), maybe Ellie can still find the same healing with Antonio.

So, Cassidy, Elias, Ellie & Antonio (who insisted on going) all make their wy back to Maria's town where, hopefully, Joel is still waiting for them. Unfortunately, the road Cassidy & Elias took to get to Ellie has been closed off by the military, and the quartet must now make their way through unfamiliar new areas that haven't been cleared by them or the government. As Ellie spends more time with Joel's family, she gets much more insight as to who Joel has become. She also gets to spend more time with Antonio and has to ultimately decide whether beng with him is worth the risk of getting hurt in a much deeper level.

WIll Ellie and the group make it back to Joel in time to save him and the town? WIll Ellie find redemption after the guilt of being unable to do anything for humanity? • BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO TLOU NEEDS A SEQUEL

        Loading editor
    • If people say that TLoU doesn't need a sequel or needs a sequel,I'm not gonna easily choose surely that it needs a sequel with the same character all over again or a different character. I know TLoU should've been the beginning of a realistic graphic in gaming history and should be remembered forever like Mario Bros,Zelda, etc, but this is just too much for me.This whole arguments about having a sequel or not it really confusing. Many people thought that " This would be an awesome beginning of a trilogy." or more than just trilogies. Many people think " This game has enough to amaze gamers and I am sure as hell no one would forget this game.ever.ever.ever." People, why are we even planning on a sequel when there's this debate where whether people want it or not, where people whether have enough of this or not.I'm just saying.EllieCroft's idea is really good and I love it and I don't mean to be off-topic but I read some old forums and saw this problem and I just wanted to make sure that if TLoU had a sequel,it doesn't mean it would be legit as the old one.

    • God please no... No evil ex-wife please! It's like ripping off everyone's true stories. People play video games to forget that kinda shit in the first place. Let just Ellie and Joel live happily ever after, after all those shit they'be been through.

    • i dont get something, why the game must follow the story of Ellie and Joel, i mean, the sequel can be done with the context (like silent hill games) instead of characters

it could be about the survivors from the firefly massacre, and how they try to survive in a world where they are being hunted, or the conflict between the firefly and the hunter (like single player version of Factions MP with more story)

PD: i haven´t read the other mesage and my english probably suck

    • In my opinion TLOU is all about Joel, Ellie & the people they encounterd. TLOU was never really been about the fungus & the factions, they were obstacels to make the story of TLOU bigger & more intresting. I think it would just be plain stupid if they would make a sequel about other characters. Because These characters Joel & Ellie we're realy amazing ones, they just can't make a sequel and hope to make characters that are better/more intresting as Joel & Ellie ( which could be challenging ( impossible for me though ) ). TLOU was all about the characters & the story. If Naughty Dog chooses that it'll be about other characters, that might be a cool idea or even fine but that'll be a dissapointment for some of us. I've never been so intrested in a character like Joel & Ellie, i actually never was in any until i started playing TLOU and had a kinda bad feeling when i finished the game. Not that the ending was bad, it just never feels good for me when a amazing story comes to an ending.

    • @Dude Real Flippin' , buddy, I feel the same thing as you. I mean come on, the gamers and the fans of TLoU are already attached to Joel and Ellie I don't think getting a new character would make TLoU that legit anymore. Just sayin'.....

    • I'd like for armour to be available in any sequel.

This would mostly be things you obtained from the black market in QZs or from trading posts and markets in secure settlements. For example:

      • Slum-Flak - Basically two-layer canvas clothing stuffed with things like cork panels and multiple layers of rag in between the layers. This has the effect of reducing the damage you receive from body hits from weapons by about a quarter and melee hits by about a half until it degrades after about eight or so hits;
      • Slum-Plate - Made up of bits of metal (like corrugated iron fencing), crudely shaped to fit around the body; it's heavy (and, in multiplayer would reduce your carry capacity a bit). It also slows sprinting speed and increases the likelihood a Clicker would hear you. However, it provides 50% protection from all attacks; having just Slum-Plate arm braces would make parrying melee attacks a lot easier. Like Slum-Flak, it degrades with time, being good for ten hits.

Given its nature, this crafted armour would be upgradable and either craftable or repairable through the crafting window and with the right training manuals (adding extra trauma plates to vulnerable areas and shaping to buy off the agility penalties).

If you have the guts to field-strip dead Hunters, infiltrate their camps or go into the Infected-controlled hells of old National Guard and Police buildings, you can obtain Police Body Armour, which give 75% protection against melee and 50% protection from ranged attacks from pistols and shotguns. This would have a durability of 25.

The top form of armour would be FEDRA-standard Military Body Armour, giving 75% protection against all attacks in all covered areas. The big disadvantage is that Fireflies and just about everyone would mistake you for miliary and respond accordingly. This advanced kit would be good for 30 hits.

Armour protection would be shown on the HUD as a second arc outside of the player character's health statistic, showing the remaining durability.

Additionally, the game would modify durability by the effect of the attack - a shotgun blast at close range could take off ten durability points whereas a single assault rifle shot at extreme range would take off only one. A good 'one point' baseline would be a single strike from a Shiv or a 2x4.

Other game mechanics I'm thinking of:

      • Maintenance - using parts and/or crafting supplies to restore items' durability to their starting baseline;
      • Trading - using parts, salvaged foodstuffs or even ammo to buy stuff from other survivors;
      • Harvesting and Synthesising - using raw materials gathered from various sources to manufacture end products that can be used in crafting or to act as trade goods.

    • I would like to see co-op in the possible sequel. I never really enjoyed multiplayer as singeplayer, especially online pvp. Because it gives me a lot of stress when someone excecutes me or that someone IRL disrespects you by shouting/swearing at their microphones. Which doesn't happen alot compared to other pvp games, but it still does once in a while.

I've heard about sequel leaks but not much promising IMO. Just a profile of some designerartistdude with the description that he's working on TLOU2 which was removed after a while. Could be possibly fake or real, all i hope for is that Naughty Dog will agree to make a sequel and if that's not the case that'll suck but i won't the end of the world.

      Just kidding it will be.

    • How would they make co-op? It wouldn't work in the first one since the only other option was Ellie (despite the utter joy of playing as her)

Tess, Bill, Tommy and Henry were possible but if you played as them, it would ruin the point in the game when they die or you leave them; to me at least.

        Loading editor
    • I think co-op wouldn't necessarily be a terrible idea, which could build interesting tension for when both players get separated. Not a fan of having co-op the entire way though, TLoU was in many ways best as a solitary experience.

        Loading editor
    • Only problem with being separated though is the loss of suspense and you can't have great moments like the one with Tess And Ellie in the museum.

Plus it destroys tension since you know you technically are no longer "alone" since you know three inches below your eyeline their is another person alive and racing to find you.

The multiplayer of TLoU did not had any characters of the story, so why would the co-op have ?

You could playing as a bunch of fireflys or hunters fighting off other AI factions or infected.

I thought something of matchmaking, not the kind co-op where you play as one of the characters.

Split screen could do, but maybe using internet and playing online with 1/3 other players sounds like a better idea if you don't like splitscreen. And joel and tommy get seperated from Ellie and tommys son and the story should be them trying to find each other. I would like more infectous enemys and some bosses. And i think halfway through tommy should die as soon as they find each other, so its them 3 against the world

    • @Anon immediately above,

That would make for an interesting fan-fiction but not necessarily a good game.

That said, a cut scene at Jackson where Ellie gets suckered into running the day crèche one day whilst the adults are all out doing stuff would be funny. I seriously doubt that Ellie is mentally or emotionally equipped to handle a dozen babies and toddlers. Add on top of that her potty mouth and you can imagine all those who can talk asking their parents what 'fucking cocksucker' means. "Miss Ellie says it all the time!"

My gut feeling is that Ish, Susan and the surviving kids made their escape but who knows what happened to them after that? I suspect that the fall of the Sewer Complex was probably a few years after the Outbreak, so Ish might be around Joel's age and the kids would all be adults now, probably around Tess's age.

Given the price of Survival, it is possible that Joel and Ellie have already me them... and killed them.

I wouldn't expect that Ellie & Joel just killed them. I think it would be the same situation they had with Henry & Sam. Those characters are/were survivors, they don't or atleast do their best to kill each other at sight. I'd think they'd only do that when they're sure it's an enemy, like people from other factions who will be an pain if they encounter  survivors.

I undestood from the artifacts that some of the kids were trapped in the sewers (and their protector later killed them to stop the Infected from getting at them). Others (not Susan's) escaped with her and Ish.

    • My idea for a sequel would be this: Fastforward 10 years, they are at Tommy's and Elle has a little girl. Her husband was killed years before, but Joel is still around acting Grandpa. Her little girl isn't immune and gets bitten, but doesn't die, but slowly changes, much slower since she has some antibodies becaue of Elle, but she will eventually die. Joel tells her the truth about what happened with the fireflies and Elle goes out to find them again for a cure for her daughter, and oel hangs back and protects the child while she is searching for the fireflies again.  The community i.e. Tommy's wants to kill her little girl which is why Joel stays behind, so you have Joel gameplay as an older man 50ish playing protector once again, and you have Elle out in wild in her earlier 20's searching for the fireflies. Eventually she may find them uses her body and dies to get the cure for her kid and fastfoward another 10 years Ellie's daughter now an adult is taking care of Joel in a cabin in a somewhat rebuilt world since the cure is changing things lsowly back to normal. Oif course the last part could be done differently, but the premise I think would be spot on.

    • If they did a sequel, it would be interesting if they set it up with many years passed and civilization still unable to find a cure. Begin the game with a brother and sister forced to evacuate and struggling to survive after their settlement is attacked and destroyed. With nothing remaining, they decide to make a journey towards a rumored super-settlement that emerged in the wake of the Cordyceps outbreak and has somehow survived. They do their best to survive in the weeks afterwards, but have run out of food and are close to death. Clickers/runners are a constant threat and closing in on them. Begin the gameplay from the outset, creating the relationship with the brother and sister, as well as filling out some of their backstory through conversation/action.

Then, set a scene where the clickers are closing in on them, only to have them saved by a lone figure--a much older Ellie (thinking around Joel's age from the first game). The interim between games could fill much of Ellie's backstory. Reveal that Ellie's group in Wyoming had remained there until a good number of the group had died (Joel included), at which point there weren't enough of them to maintain/defend the dam/power plant. Facing a tough decision, the group votes to migrate towards one of the proposed super-settlements in hopes of finding survival. However, Ellie's secret had been kept by the original members of the dam, so nobody voting knew/knows her secret. She votes against it and argues against the move, based on her experiences from the first game, but it passes. Ellie knows given her situation there's no chance for her in such a settlement, and as such, she leaves the group mid-journey (without their knowledge/approval). In the time since then, she's survived in the wilderness, avoiding anyone who could get close to her and possibly discover her secret.

Ellie saves the brother and sister and ultimately decides to lead them through the wilderness/cities/towns, following the direction her older group took years ago. The journey echoes her memories from earlier (from the first game, as well as the ensuing backstory with her group), which is perhaps where some of the backstory can be integrated/revealed. Initially she doesn't reveal her true identity to the kids, even though she doesn't know them, due to her over-cautious nature. Joel had constantly cautioned her to be wary in the years since Salt Lake City, and those habits followed her in the years after his death. Meanwhile, in her character now is a sense of loathing--a guilt for having survived as long as she has, especially given her circumstances. She's grown harder over time, perhaps colder as well (create symbolic echoes of Joel here).

Have the game follow somewhat of a similar beat as the journey in the first game, but this time change the dynamics by having an extra character to account for. With an extra character, added gameplay/strategy dynamics could open up in terms of approaching enemies/situations. However, introduce the additional wrinkle where one of the characters (brother and/or sister) has the possibility of permanently dying along the way, which would drastically affect the subsequent interactions in the game (if both brother and sister die, or if Ellie dies, the game ends). With such a possibility in mind, the new dynamic could add depth to the player's considerations in approaching a situation (whether to always stick together as a group, or whether to take calculated chances in order to possibly make a difficult situation much easier). In other words, create a gameplay dynamic that allows the player to generate actual history for the characters, while still progressing along the conventional, linear story. Another possible mechanic that could be implemented would be giving the player choice at different junctions about which way/time to go (perhaps by a campfire setting the day before) that could change the setting/approach (scene/time of day) substantially. Creating junctures with dynamic weather variants could also be interesting in some of the approaches (though I realize key story beats would likely adhere to a particular sort of weather/time of day).

In looking at such an experience, I would frame this story's overarching theme as the following: how does Ellie change during the course of this journey and how far would she go to save this/these character/characters? What's the nature/depth of her humanity in the years that have passed? How much has she changed throughout her life, and what do those changes mean for her future? Will she be able to do what is necessary when the time comes, or will the years and reinforcement keep her close to her survivalist approach? Who is she now, and more importantly, who will she be?

Obviously I have thoughts for the endgame as well, but in reality there's a lot of room to explore avenues/alternatives, and I think a sequel that casts Ellie in a role similar to Joel from the first game could be a fertile ground to explore, and something that could engage players and be just as special as the first game.

If anyone wants to hear what I've got feel free to inbox me. I have already sent the complete script to Naughty dog. Rest assured this is a product of hundreds of man-hours and careful deliberation. It is a story worthy to bare the title "The Last Of Us". FYI I have kept it in tune with the previous story, same characters and new ones too.

    • I love al these ideas for TLOU2 and i must say i have never played a post apocalyptic game that captured my attention as much as this story. I am not a massive gamer i normally play FIFA and sports games so i decided to try some thing different now all i do is play last of us and watch The Walking Dead --> I personally would love to see the story of TLOU2 kick off right after Sarah's death and see the story of Joel & Tommy and how their humanity was stretched and tested truing to survive something so horrific leading up to where TLOU kicked off in Boston. The game would be madness as people would be getting infected left right and centre and nobody would have and protected areas to rely on as the outbreak is so fresh and new. Plenty of room for new characters to join in and even more room for heart break and success stories. Characters that they meet up with do not neccesssarily need to die but can also branch off and find their own ways either to meet up with Joel & Tommy in the future or never to be seen again leaving their futures and lives in our imagination. There are few few games that focus on the transition between normal life and utter of of the worl choas. I know many people would be upset to not see Ellie but i feel Ellie,s story has been told and there is so much we don't know about Joel - like was he always a bad ass personality wise or what did he go through with Tommy that enabled him to take lives so easily to survive. I will be posting an idea for a story soon and would love to gether feedback

So instead of it endin with him holdin Sarah in his arms and cuttin straight to the credits, I want the TLoU 2 ta start off with him still on the ground with Sarah in his arms whilst swearing and givin the guy that killed her a mouth full of abuse. Tommy then walks over to Joel and places his hand on his shoulder but Joel shrugs him off and off and tells him to "piss off" whilst still weeping with Sarah in his arms. Then Tommy hears somethin in the distance and tells Joel that they need to move but Joel just ignores him and just stays on the ground cryin and sayin a whole buncha stf like "why'd ya leave me like this baby girl" "you didn't deserve this baby girl" and just as he's about to say somethin else he looks up and sees a whole bunch of infected in distance runnin at Tommy and him. Joel still refuses to move though and just as they get closer Tommy says to Joel that they needa f-kin move and he needs to leave Sarah and that they'll come back for her to bury and give her a grave after all the infected are gone. Joel stands up with Sarah in his arms and tells Tommy that he's bringin her with him so Tommy just agrees so they can leave. Then U get to play as Joel runnin away for a bit and then once U get outta that desert area there another cut scene... does that sound alright for they first part?

If the story is to progress like i think it will ellie will then try find her mom and find out that her immunity is genetic and that her mom could also be the means to the cure.

    • I thought it was established that Ellie's mother died in childbirth?

Well also Dee Bradley Baker if you think about the alien voices, he should have been clicker in the last of us, hope fully he might voice some zombies in the Last of us 2 because he is usually really good at those voices and if any of you guys don't agree check out some his work on Life 4 dead 2, Dawn of the dead and shadows of demand

    • Here is my possible theory on what the plot for The Last of Us Part 2 will be on: five years after the events of the last game, Ellie has been on the run from a new dangerous group calling themselves the "Pincers", which consists of surviving members of the old militia group the Fireflies. During the journey to find others with immunity, Ellie encounters Joel, who was killed by the group a month prior to the events of the game, as a hallucination to make her believe Joel is still alive. During the five years, Ellie has become skilled with every weapon, learned how to play the guitar, and learned how to swim. Also, the Cordyceps virus has evolved further as the infected are now more dangerous and that animals have become infected. One day, she meets a 18-year old girl named Katelynn (voiced and motion capture performance by Tara Platt) and her 21-year old brother Phoenix (voiced and motion capture performance by Matthew Mercer), who have escaped from the "Pincers" who want something that she has. Eventually, it is revealed that she too is immune to the cordyceps virus. They both decide to travel together and find more people who are immune. Phoenix sacrifices himself in order to hold off a number of animal infected. Halfway through the journey, Ellie and Katelynn became close and seem to form a mutual attraction for each other. Also, Ellie reveals her main goal: after Joel was killed, she swore to wipe out the "Pincers". They meet many aliies who end up sacrificing their lives to ensure their survival. After a while, they find themselves in the base of the "Pincers" where they revealed that Joel lied to her about their being others, which Ellie counters that she already knew as it was the day Joel died that she learned the truth. Ellie was angry at first but she forgave him as she understood why Joel did what he did. In the end, Ellie and Katelynn manage to escape while tricking the entire militia group into a corner where a bunch of infected and kill them. Ellie and Katelynn then find themselves in a community where they discover that they are all immune to the infection.
