  • Hey there, Snivy! Since The Last of Us II will be coming out within a year or two (hopefully), the wiki is gonna become more active requiring a larger staff. Since I'm not as active anymore, another bureaucrat would be nice to help assist with picking out new staff and keeping the wiki in order. Since you're the most active, I'm offering you the position. Let me know what you think, thanks!

  • Last night i edited two articles, one on the military sniper and one on the assault rifle. on the military sniper i elaborated more on the type of reticle it uses, a russian based chevron reticle. i understand why this would be removed, but what i dont get is the removal of my tips for Factions MP regarding the assault rifle, mainly the use of two and three shot bursts, and the guns automatic fire accuracy.

If i did something wrong, i would like some advise and guidance.

    • Hey there. :D

The reason I removed your edits is because the information you added regarding the Rifle's burst rate is advice more so than trivia. The advice is more fitting under the multiplayer section on the article. However, the advice to fire in bursts rather than "spray and pray" so to speak is already present - it's a waste repeating information the article already elaborates.

As for the rest you added, such information requires adequate sourcing. As such, I'm going to add the {{fact}} template to the sections you have added, our way of indicating the information requires a reliable source. If you are unable to prove the disputable/uncommon knowledge, I'm afraid I'll have to delete it again.

New users do take time to adapt to how wikis are run - it's not your fault. I advise you take time to familiar yourself with our policies to ensure you stay on track to becoming the great editor you are capable of becoming.

      Thanks!

  • Hi Snivy,

A lot of what I wrote on Ellie's page derives from stuff Neil himself confirmed in an interview. The thing about Joel and Ellie's relationship being complicated, the group of young adults patrolling the perimeters and Ellie and Dina's bond over quirky humour were all things that Neil confirmed in his interview with The Telegraph.

I should have made references, my bad!

    Thanks!

    • Ah, I see. Regardless though, while interviews are suitable for game pages and certain things after a game is released, right now most of what he mentions is simply his take on it/is stuff not yet seen properly in the official version.

As stated, it's best to wait for the game itself to release and use that as the official reference and evidence. While Druckmann wrote the game, we are a community writing about the game, meaning we all have collective and equal interpretations, just as Druckmann does. He may be the writer, but we are the interpreters. Essentially, his word is not always law, especially now Halley Gross is also a writer too - the game they have written is what we take first; Neil's words come after.

The interview at present helps for minor details like Ellie's age, but is not concrete enough to add whole sections about Ellie's relationship with new characters, of which we have seen very little.

Regardless, good job on expanding the article and adding the new sources. Keep it up! :D

    • That sounds incredibly fair. Since many users will have to register with The Telegraph to view the interview, I found a transcript of it on reddit. You can check it out here: https://www.reddit.com/r/thelastofus/comments/98fwvt/telegraph_interview_with_neil_druckmann/

    • That's another thing that leads me to dissuade and wait for the official release - given it's difficulty to access, many readers will be unable to use it and scholars will be unable to verify. The reddit version works, but is hardly the most appropriate for an article at this stage.

Neat read though, thanks for providing a link :)

  • Hey! So, I'm aware of the Discussions Guidelines and the meaning of Rule 3, however, I posted a thread with the incentive to encourage people to link, something that would ultimately push more people to discover the rest of the wiki. I hope this is fine by you? Hopefully I'll also be able to (with your permission) introduce them to the editing of articles, and other matter cerning wikia at large. Cheers, User:CosmicChronos

  • Seeing as how I'll probably bring up multiple different subjects.

Regarding adding images to articles, do you'll (or you) say add images from the page it's being added to specifically, or do you'll (or you) add it from the uploads page and then add it to the article?

    • Ok cool.

Well, the policy is actually becoming much more different than I had imagined, so it actually won't be much too similar to the Avatar/TLOU standards.

What's the situation on this wiki with the plurals and possessives? Are the s and 's put inside the brackets or outside([Ellie|Ellie's] or [Ellie]'s)?

        Loading editor
    • That's up to personal preference, the "lazy" way is [Ellie]'s but one should do the [Ellie|Ellie's] way when editing.

Up to you, if you ask me though. :)

  • There is another Wiki of The Last of Us. I think we should probably do something about that possible because it is kind of confusing.

    https://the-last-of-us.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page

I found out about it while reading this Fandom article.

    • Awesome @M67! I noticed the URL no longer worked as well, so it's official :D

What happened to the user who plagiarized our work?

No idea. Without that wiki, I can't think of an easy way to track them. I barely remember their username as is.

    • Yup, just the Quote template itself. You can also change the color codes to match your wiki's color scheme.

  • Does this Wiki have a Manual of Style? I want to help build up pages to the best we can make them because I noticed that some articles have sections that others don't.

  • The one regarding the headings. I wanted to know why, for example, Founding and history would be (is) chosen over Founding and History? Also while on this subject, how do you'll feel about case on titled article pages, like "Melee weapons" instead of "Melee Weapons" and "Baseball bat" instead of "Baseball Bat"?

Ahh I see, the difference here is those are titles on the pages, rather than headings. Honestly though, I'd rather use sentence case for them instead. Reckon we should open a discussion together to get it changed?

I don't know; i'm an admin on another wikia, so I was just questioning the format/rules/policy here for insight. Another wikia im fond of actually strictly follows title case entirely (article pages and headings. Not sure about category pages though, but I don't see why that'd be an exception for them).

        Loading editor
    • Well, it's up to you as you're the one who has taken note of it. I'll support making it all sentence case should you decide to open said discussion. :)

  • Hi,

On the bottle page  it is stated:

"bottles are a better distraction than bricks because they make more noise when smashed."

What is the source for this claim? Is it general consensus, gut-feeling, has someone analyzed the code, or has Naughty Dog offically stated this somewhere?

I have played this game's story over ten times on various difficulties, and my gut-feeling has always been that there is no difference in the amount of noise a bottle makes when thrown compared to a brick. If there is, it's negligble.

    So, I decided to test/workshop this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_FOZoxv_JDk

My test resulted in what I had suspected, there is no difference!

    • Hey there!

Good find. You're right, I even replayed a bit of the game myself and found there was no change. I went ahead and removed the tenuous information.

Thanks for pointing it out and providing proof :D.
