Since four new major characters have been introduced to play a part in The Last of Us II, should someone edit the 'Character' navigation menu bar at the top of the page to include Yara, Lev, Jesse and Dina?
Just an average completionist who likes to see everything 'fit' together! :D
Given the new game play trailer came out (O.O) I was wondering if we should update the community messages on the Recent Activity page. The messages still references now outdated information, like the Left Behind DLC and the announcement of the sequel back in 2016 so it could do with a repaint.
Any suggestions of the sort of things we should add and do you think any of what's there is worth keeping in?
Well, it's community messages - could put stuff about editing expectations? Although, I've already included that in the other one. Another link to the policy pages, that way there's no way people can miss them?
We also need to sort the matter of the navigation bar - as in do we include all the characters and enemies within it or do we update to only include characters with Part II. We could split them as has been done for the games - characters for the first game, then a separate bar for Part II
Also, do we really need the [[Category:Survivors]] as all those within are practically included in the [[Category:Characters]]?
What do you reckon? Should we open a wiki-wide discussion about it or shall we keep it staff based for now?
Just thinking the sooner we do this, the better as there's gonna be a lot of work to do once the game releases.
Sounds like a good idea, I can update the messages then if you want, unless you feel NFG would rather take care of that?
I reckon I could update the nav bar, but we'd have to be sure which way we go about doing it - I'd prefer splitting them, as keeping them all in one slot will lead to an excessive bar size given the list will likely double in size by the time the game releases.
Want me to go ahead and start the deletion process on the Survivor category, or should we wait for the others to check in?
Just another minor thing, (^_^) I went ahead and made the location and weapons templates ready for Part II. Reckon it's worth adding them to their respective articles or should we wait for the release so we know for certain what can go where?
Can I create a page for the scanner the military uses to see if people are infected or not?
I feel it would be worthy of a page because it's how Joel and Tess found out that Ellie was infected casting away all ambiguity for her purpose of being smuggled. Plus it's seen in gameplay when that line of people in the quarantine zones was in trouble with those soldiers and were being scanned by them using it.
I think I could start off the page by saying:
"The scanner is a device used by the Military to check if people going in and out of Quarantine Zones are infected with the Cordyceps Brain Infection . It's a handheld device that is held closely to the back of the person's head who is being scanned to scan them. When the scanner beeps the scanning is complete and if says "positive" the person is infected and prompty executed by the military via lethal injection or by gunshot should the person resist."
If the military didn't scan them they probably would've never found out about Ellie being infected.
Hmm. Interesting point. My only problem with that is, we don't know what the device is actually called in the game. "Infected Scanner" might work, but you should probably get Snivystorm's opinion on this as well.
Personally, I'm not a huge fan of making the page. I mean, we could make it, but then we have little to say about it beyond "reveals infection" and it's place in the story, which is already covered on the military page. But then we are a wikia, if there was some way the page was more than the section given on the military page, then I can see it working as it's own page.
Regarding the title being conjecture, we could always make a template like has been made on TARDIS wiki to inform readers the title is based on conjecture, as seen here:
I'm almost heartbroken to hear you're considering retiring from Wikia - you were here, almost as guide for me, since I first arrived. You've stuck through it all these past five years with us: a hard working, stellar administrator and staff member doing your bit to keep the community going as other have drifted away.
While I respect your decision to let your activity here take a back seat, I do hope you won't leave forever - even just the occasional return now and then would be enough. Don't worry about this place, I can assure you I'll still be here doing my bit to keep it ticking as best I can.
Regardless, I respect your decision to want to leave and, should you do go through with it, I wish you all the best for the future!
Thanks for the kind words! I'm really more considering just taking a break from Wikia as a whole. I'll be available if you need anything, so just drop me a message here or on Community Central and I should respond soon.
Hey there, Braden. I've recently offered Snivystorm a spot on the administrative team in addition to removing Fireburn's rights as he hasn't been on the wiki for well over a year. I'd like to know your input on these rights changes and receive your decision to reach a consensus. You can read the threads here and here. Thanks!
Sorry for the late reply. I support promoting Snivystorm and demoting Fireburn12. In fact, I've thinking of promoting Snivystorm for a while now, especially considering that I'm thinking of leaving Wikia.
That sounds good. With your consideration of retirement and my inactivity, Snivy would make a great addition. Sucks to hear you're considering to leave though, I hope you choose whatever is best for you.
