I have started thinking about all of the titles coming out this year and I realized something: there are a lot of possibilities for Game of the Year. So many candidates this year and quite a few categories as well. So, first off allow me to provide a brief description of each big game releases this year and then the possible categories. Then we'll discuss what we think should go where.

I honestly hate it when people say "virus" when they're talking about The Last of Us. It just bothers me so very much, especially in a few reviews where the reviewer has said "fungal virus", which in itself makes no sense. I don't know, maybe I'm just too easily annoyed.

I'm beyond hyped for The Last of Us. Could it be a horrible disaster That fails utterly? It certainly could, but I have confidence in Naughty Dog to make an amazing game. Since the PS2 era, this studio has blown me away. That isn't to say however, that their games are without faults. Specifically, I'm talking about their most recent release, Uncharted 3, and how I think Naughty Dog has recently picked up something of a bad habit. It's nothing deal-breaking, but it's a concern I have nonetheless. My one fear for The Last of Us is that the writers will choose style over substance.

So, I have read every article on this site and have edited quite a few of them as well. I have written my opinions and facts all over this site and all over countless other sites. But I realized today that I have never once asked for anyone else's opinion about this game. I think I shall do that now.

Only 51 more days until the release of The Last of Us and I have spent half of the day watching and rewatching every video I can find of it. I have also spent the last three or so hours reading all of the wiki pages about it. I seriously cannot wait until the release. It's going to be stellar.

All I have is my memories really when it comes to getting acquianted to the game. I played it briefly at PAX East last month, but not enough to really cover me until June 14th. I guess we'll see how long I can last, it has been a little less than a year so far.

The Last of Us will be released in less than one hundred days. While this is awhile away, it still leaves us plenty of time to think about what we would like to see in this game. It seems the developers have thought of everything, however I'm wondering if the laws of physics will apply to less obvious objects.  Examples:  Hair movement; movement of clothing; the shape of the character's backpacks when items are added and removed; will they ever have to retie their shoes?  Does their clothing show wear and tear after a period of time?  Do they show mud, dirt, or water on their clothing or body?  When they are injured, do they produce scar tissue?  I have very high expectations for this game!

Personally, if there is a special edition, I would like a statue featuring Ellie and Joel, a collector's edition steelbook case, the game's soundtrack (which should include Alone and Forsaken and the rap by Doctor Awkward), a concept art booklet, the hardcover collection of the American dreams Prequel comic, and some in game content,  this would probably be more of a 120-150 dollar priced special edition.

Although we don't have anything specific whatsoever, we do know The Last of Us is coming out in 2013.

In a rather pointless demo of the E3 gameplay footage on Jimmy Fallon Late Night, Druckmann and Staley themselves stated the game will come out in 2013. That's right, folks. In the latest Game Informer issue, game director Bruce Straley says, and I quote, "We're going to have some sort of online component. We're working on a bunch of ideas, but we haven't nailed anything down. We definitely know it's going to be awesome."

I, for one, am totally psyched for the online in The Last of Us, whether it be co-op, survival, or competitve. Knowing Naughty Dog, it will be quite amazing.
